I already posted this under another forum, but I am just curious as to why the U.S. doesn't have any international cross country competitions. England, Spain and Portugal have a couple and Japan, and other European countries have one each as well. Why the hell aren't we having any comps.? We totally have the money, facilities and getting an IAAF permit should be no problem. If we want to spawn a greater interest in the sport or if we want our runners to compete in a competetive setting that will help runners from the US to form some sort of national pride about the sport like in other countries. Plus, I need a good cross tune up before winter natinals, fall nationals is for club runners only and Ii'm unattached, and flying to England for a meet is a little out of the question since I'm a poor college student. Any info on cross country meets with good comp. would be helpful, thanks.
