1. This is an upper-middle-class girl from a family and a town where elite college is given. The social pressure to go through the process, and attend school, is incredibly high. Going pro prior to college will not occur.
The comparison the Ajee Wilson is not apt; while Ajee was a wonderful girl who did well, Neptune NJ is not Bronxville, NY. Going pro for Ajee was likely both an athletic and economic decision. It would not be an economic decision for Mary Cain.
2. She'll probably run for her team, at least one or two seasons a year, for freshman and sophomore year. She will also compete in a few world and national events. She will not run 3-seasons like Jordan Hasay.
3. She will get in anywhere in the country if says she'll run for them. She also has the option, once she is there, to stop running on scholarship (only the Ivies and D3 don't give sports scholarships) and then continue and complete her degree on her schedule.
4. Regardless of wherever she attends school--Ivies or not, Stanford, Cal, Michigan, Oregon--she will have limitless personal and professional post-running opportunities if she continues the path she is on. Her past will give cachet to any graduate program or professional endeavor she tries.
