Hagos is now world junior record holder at 5k outdoors and 3k indoors. He might be better than Bekele. I hope Rupp is ready for outdoor and doesn't spend everything on indoor record attempts.
Ruptured...
Good to see our 10000 meter specialist running so well against those who specialize at shorter distances.
Maybe Rupp will get improve personal bests in the 5000 and 10000. He may be in the hunt for a 10000 medal again. Its will be hard to beat the top Ethiopians and Kenyans once again.
People were shouting about Lagat running 7:34; Rupp just bettered that time and beat the Silver medalist in the 5000m and all there is here is a bunch of complaint.

I was thinking the same thing. Even the front page exhibits that bias stating where Lagats time lands him in history. But for Rupp it's just "defeated".
Strange.
Yep--beating a 10k specialist in February clearly shows that Alberto Salazar is training his athletes incorrectly. Don't know why the ol' Saladbar didn't time Rupp's peak for the New Balance Indoor Games 3000m. The golden boy and his coach had a good run, but their time is over; time to jump on the bandwagon of the latest young Ethiopian to have a great race early in the year.
Didn't he... like... just run 3:50 a week ago?

I am suspicious of mo Farrah's sudden improvement.
You're suspicious of Farah's improvement but a guy who goes from 14:04 to 12:47 in ONE YEAR doesn't raise your eyebrows?
You have anything in that head of yours?
Some Africans come out of nowhere and run world class times...

Most not some.
I think the 14:04 is ana anomaly.. Any ethio club runner can run that time let alone a guy that makes it on the junior team. To be a club runner or even a disrtict level runner u have to run... 13:40 13:30 pace equivilent at sea level.
I am suspicious of mo because his improvement came very late in his career. What was wrong with his training between 20-28... He was in gb and had access to all that paula radcliffe had. She was mentoring him. He was a good athlete but not a world beater.. Then suddenly you switch coaches and its double gold. It does not appear legit to me. On the other hand rupp was a talented teen who has been progressing slowly. Sure his association with mo may make some suspicious.. But at least u can give him the benefit of the doubt.
I have less doubt that mo is cheating and i hope al salazar is not involved in it. ... Because he is clearly attracting talent like mary cain..
mo's "progression"
2000; world juniors 5000m 10th place (bekele finishes 2nd).
athens olympics cycle;
2001; last year of high school, runs 3.46, 8.09 and 13.56.
2002; goes to st. marys college, struggles to adjust to university lifestyle, messes about and doesnt do much training but still runs 1.50, 3.47 and 14.00.
2003; 2nd yr at st. mary's college, improves personal bests to 1.48, 3.43, 8.05, 13.38. still not a lot of training, 60 miles average. 2nd at the european u23's behind chris thompson.
2004; injured. 3.43 1500m split in a 4.00 mile.
thus...progression over 4 years, 2001-2004 = 2 seconds in the 800m, 3 seconds in the 1500m, 4 seconds in the 3000m and 18 seconds in the 5000m.
beijing olympics cycle;
2005; considerably picks up training following injury. alan storey begins coaching him. runs 3.38, 3.56 for the mile, 7.54, 13.30. 2nd at the european u23 championships.
2006; goes out to australia and trains with mottram. also goes to kenya for the first time. 3.38, 7.38 and 13.09. massive improvements following massive increase in training and adjustment to storey's training programme (upwards of 130 miles a week). 9th commonwealth games 5000m and 2nd european champs 5000m
2007; first ever world championships..finishes 6th. 13.07 5000m but doesnt improve any other personal bests.
2008; beijing olympics....out in the heats. doesnt improve any pb's but runs 27.44 at payton jordan.
progression over 4 years; 1500m- no improvement (perhaps no focus). 3000m- 16 seconds in 2 years, then no improvement, around 7.40 for 2007 & 2008. 5000m- 22 seconds in 3 years.
london olympics;
2009; more time in kenya and ethiopia, ian stewart also starts coaching him to an extent. 1500m- 3.33, 3000m- 7.34, 5000m- 13.09. 7th at world champs
2010; 12.57 and 27.28. wins 5k and 10k at european championships.
2011; salazar begins coaching him...the scientific approach + the massive builup of mileage since having not been injured since 2004 pays dividence....world champion 5000m. 12.53 & 26.48.
2012; olympic champion 5k & 10k.
analysis??????????

True and I seem to recall Farah losing to some teenager with one shoe last indoor season. It's Feb.- I can't wait for Rupp to get to the outdoor season!

Probably because Lagat's 7:34 win by 4 seconds is more impressive than Rupp's 7:33 loss?
What a crock of BS
Hagos is very talented...let's wait and see how he does under a lot more pressure. There was no pressure on him today, it's a lot easlier to run faster with no expectations....He may be the man, but running fast and racing are two different animals.
this. Moh Fara is clean
