I would have finished. Like you said they can wait for another treadmill from the new years group.

I think it is nice that the gym was able to find a 16 year old that can actually do his job. Sounds like he was professional and courtesous in following the gym's rules. I know it sucks not being able to finish your run because of a bunch of noobs that won't be running in a few weeks but it is not the kids fault.

Just run outside. They can make whatever rules they want.

If you only had 6 minutes left you should have stalled by extending the conversation with the kid. Could have just about finished your run if you had played it right.

If you don't like it, man up and run outside, you entitled anushole.

My policy is: I don't listen to anyone while I'm training, especially 16 year olds.

I guarantee there are signs that say to limit your use of the treadmill to 20-30 minutes during peak times but in todays "all about me" society you feel like rules don't apply to you so you get mad at the kid for doing his job.

Avoid peak hours during the first 2 weeks in January.

As a gym owner I think I have a pretty good idea of the kind of member the OP is just just from the way he wrote his conversation. I have little doubt that had you walked into the gym and not been able to get on the treadmill almost immediately you would have been the one going to the "16 year old kid" and complaining, demanding that he does his job and get those New Years members off your treadmills.

By the way, if it weren't for all those new people that are signing up right now, you probably wouldn't have a treadmill to run on because there wouldn't be gym for you to go to. Most gyms make most of their money this time of year and are lucky to break even the rest of the year. Once the weather starts getting nice(atleast up here in the northeast) people stop joining the gym.

Justjustjustjust Joined Golds gym for $1...and opened myself up to endless suzihamilton jokes.

Stop paying your gym membership, save up the money that would go towards said membership, and buy your own treadmill.
