About 85% of dog attack deaths come from Rots and Pits although they represent only 5% of dogs or less.
There are 4.5 million dog bites in the US every year. There are three times as many guns as dogs and there are about 80,000 shootings per year. About 50 people die each year from dog attacks, about 8,000 people die from gun shots. I don't think the discussion should be should Pit bulls be banned; that's like smoking in bars, a given. A strong arguement can be made for banning all dogs. I know the dog lobby makes the gun lobby look like book club; the gun people only dream of having the dog lobby power. An increasingly large number of dog owners do not give a shit about leash laws etc. The half an idiot rate much higher than car drivers etc.
Around 15,000 people in the U.S. are killed each year from homicide and 32,000 from car accidents, yet, because of 50 deaths from dog attacks out of something like 80 million dogs, we should ban all dogs? Right..... As for your bite statistic, the vast majority of bites are of the non-serious variety and are basically the same as assault by a person. Have you ever been punched or kicked by another kid in high school, who lost their temper? We should euthanize them all, right? It seems to me that the percentage of crazy, out of control dogs is much lower than the rate of crazy, out of control humans. Due to the stupidity of your post, I can only surmise that you are one of the crazy ones and perhaps you should be banned from the country.
