I was wrong about that. In 2012, the winning boys' time was 9:49.83. That's a 3K, not a 3200.

no, it was a 32

You do know there's a difference between running to win and running to set records, right?
I do. I do. I do not understand your point, however. I was simply supplying data points as a frame of reference. I stated no judgement as to whether or not she could win a state title in Wyoming.
Since you did get all uppity, however, I will take the time to judge. Since the Wyoming Class 1A record has stood since 1997 it is clear that NO 1A boy has shown the ability to run faster, in either a tactical race or a "record attempt" race. That being said, NO class 1A boy has demostrated that he could run within 10 seconds of Mary Cain for 3000m.
Even if a 9:53 3200m guy has a "good kick", is he really going to drop the hammer on a girl whose 3000m PR is 10 seconds better and has shown the ability to run a 2:03 800m?
In response to the OP's question, I don't know how many she could win, but I would safely argue at least one.
I don't think she would ever be the best in any state but she would win the South Dakota 3200m in the B and A divisions some years, depending on the competition. Often times, no one in the class goes below 10 minutes throughout the whole season. I currently live in Wyo and she might win the smaller divisions here and there but again, Casper is nearly a mile high so times are to be thrown out the window.

Thanks for that catch. At one point in my life I was able to read simple text, but I've kind of stepped away from that.
I'm not saying that Cain would have won that race had she been in it, and Plunkett is one of the best distance runners in New England now, but a 9:02 3k is intrinsically superior to a 9:49 3200.
Vermont is weird. Almost all states run a 3200 outdoors now (RI is an exception) even if they run a 3000 indoors. VT does it the other way around.
