so if you are al sal what do you do? Do you keep focusing on long term aerobic development or do you say 'this girl could make the national team - let's have her peak for USAs?
Fun for all involved but these are tough decisions.
9 flat for 3k is on pace for 15 flat for 5k - and this is January, indoors without being pushed hugely.
I think we can officially end the 'what college will she go to' game - she is too good to compete in college. Last yrs NCAA indoor champ race was won in 9:15. She might go to college but she won't compete.
I see that 9 flat for 3000 might be on pace for 15 flat for 3000, but being someone who's ran 9 flat myself, I would definately say it is more likely equivelant to a 15:40.
Got 2 facts about the dilema you are bringing up regarding competition:
A) Al Sal is cleraly looking for long term development.
B) Womens World Records and 2012 World Bests
1500m: 3:50 (3:56)
3000m: 8:06 (8:34)
5000m: 14:11 (14:35)
10000m: 29:30 (30:20) - 2:57 and 3:02 k's
these marks are easily putting the pro US women to shame.
