If you have the incline at 15% it is probably easier to hold on than to grab your thighs like those pokey trailrunners do when they go up a steep incline.
Also SFH wasn't that big a deal. Didn't even get to 700 posts.

Worst I've seen was a teeny, tiny, little bit older lady at the Y. She wore some kind of armwarmer looking things over her arms and gloves (this is inside now) and sweatpants. She'd walk for a bit, normal pace, then she'd crank up the incline and speed then pretty much lay over the console so her toes were barely bouncing off the belt. She'd hang there a bit then stand on the sides and reduce the speed and incline. After a bit she'd repeat the speed part of her workout. Very odd.

Actually what I see more often is the MILF who cranks up the incline to the max and then holds on to the sides to keep from being jetisoned off the back. Seems like that would defeat the purpose of the incline if you counteract the resistance by holding on with your hands rather than working with your legs.
lol I see this too, but it's always asian women i see doing it. I thought it was just an asian thing.

In the rare times that I have to run on a treadmill I have to grab the handles if I'm watching TV while running. It may look weird, but beats weaving off the tread surface.
