You seem to be upset about something. Are you mad that you couldn't make it to the race or have you just not accomplished anything in life and choose to be negative towards others who are accomplishing things you never could??? Who are you just curious
Look, the guys bashing (like the poster you are replying to) are being a little bit of jerks (maybe), however...they have a point.
It is indeed silly to call this a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. They can call it what they want, but it is a bit delusional. A 45 y.o. woman came in top 25 OVERALL ? A 77 y.o. man completed the race? A 6 y.o. completed the race? Over 70% of the field completed the race in over 10 mins per mile, with many over 20 mins per mile (!) Were there ANY east africans (only by far the best runners on the planet, and especially good at cross and running over barriers) in the race? Certainly no quality ones. I think I heard of like 2 or 3 of the finishers.
it just cheapens the notion of a world championship if anyone can enter, and most of the field are joggers, and there are almost no (except for a couple) legitimately world class runners in the field.
It's like the master's WORLDS they have, where, at least in the past, anyone could enter and in the younger age groups, few quality runners bothered.
It's not a big deal, but it is dumb. But as others stated, it's a good marketing tool. Because people will pay a lot of $ in order to tell people: "yo, I just competed in the world championship of ___________. yeah, finished in the top _______ that makes me world class." Yes, there are plenty of tools that say this and believe it.
