You're right Baxter will be the better college runner because Cain will have already turned Pro.... Haha.

It's going to be great to watch the continuing development of Sarah Baxter, Mary Cain, and Ajee Wilson over the decade or more. Also LSRun favorite Jordan Hasay and the women's distance running future likes extremely bright!

I coached a girl who was good enough at XC and track to go D1. All XC season she would say, " I can't wait for track."
You know why?
She liked track more.
She liked the 800 and 1500 more than 5K of XC.
So does Mary.
That's all that means.

Ditto.
I don't see a mean bone in any of those runners
Probably a million runners said after XC that they can't wait for track and after track that they can't wait for XC. Some of them are the same people.

Sarah beats Mary by a few seconds on a 5K mudfest that plays to her strengths, and then you have Sarah beating Mary by 16 seconds over 3000m on the track? I suppose you have some real estate in Louisiana to sell us with that deal?Mary will be sub 9:00, Sarah in the 9:10 to 9:14 range.

After many hours of studying everything on Mary and Sarah I don't think either girls have leveled off as stated by a previous posters. In fact I think the following personal best are attainable:
Mary Cain
800m......2:01.85
1500m.....4:09.75 HSR
Mile......4:30.90 HSR
3000m.....9:19.95
Sarah Baxter
Mile......4:39.25
3000m.....9:03.20
2Mile.....9:49.95
5000m....15:49.75
Senior year she could lower 5000m to sub 15:40
Sarah may have a 2-0 advantage but look for that to change should Miss S. Baxter start racing Mary at her specialities.
THANK YOU ^^^
By September of 2013...
Mary Cain
800- 1:59.80
1500- 4:05.40
Mile- 4:25.06
3000m- 8:51.38
2 mile- 9:33.84
5000- she won't run it but she could run sub 16 on the track
Sarah Baxter
800- 2:16?? hahaha.
Mile- 4:45
2 mile- 9:53
5000- 15:50
Night and day difference. Trying to put Sarah Baxter in the same category as Mary Cain. It's not even close. Mary Cain should hold 3 HSR's before she graduates and turns Pro. Baxter might (just might) get the 5000.

I like Sarah to be a better college athlete , she looks to have more upside , somewhat underdeveloped ( speed ) , shows great strength , will improve with more defined speed work .
College is a different game for both of these young ladies , lets see how they flourish. Great talent pool coming through with this class.
Wait....this may be the first time I've ever read that someone will be a great college recruit because their SPEED is underdeveloped.
I love the entertainment from LRc.
It's sad. The top Americans peak out at a level one rank below the best in the world, so the disappointed LRC posters can only obsess about teenagers who have a slim-to-none chance of getting there.

That's not what I saw last summer when Rupp outkicked both Bekeles and Manzano left everyone but a probably-drugged-up Algerian in his dust.

Rupp outkicked an injured Bekele. Don't exaggerate his accomplishments.
Yeah because Mary Cain was the fastest 16 year old in the world last year??

Nothing wrong with her comment at the end of her interview. CAN'T WAIT FOR TRACK! Who do you think it was directed at? None other then Sarah Baxter as to say thing will be different on my best running surface- the track!
http://usa.milesplit.com/meets/119684/videos/?id=31322Can Mary Cain turn the tables on Sarah Baxter indoors and/or outdoors?
....
NOW we understand what Mary Cain meant after her defeat at the hands of Sarah Baxter, when Cain said, "Can't wait for track" and she may not been directing it at Baxter but at the entire track world!!!
4:28.25 indoor mile for a girl who is a junior in high school is insane. Ethopian and Kenyan girls would have a hard time beating her in the 1500m/Mile this year!
I think she knew how well her training been going as knew she would take the world by storm indoors and outdoors after cross country! Wake up world Insane Mary Cain is here and to be feared.
