looks like john lawson got third
not other CA qualifiers
Ryan Coverse got 25th today. One spot off a medal.
Sorry kid. Great job though!
Winning time for the guys 16:28 - wow. Either a very slow field or bad conditions. This is a minute slower than what usually wins it.
Hopefully San Diego will have nice dry weather next week.
Congrats to all.

Thanks. This makes more sense. They still have 16:28 posted on footlockercc.com on the front page.

Very interesting results for those who want to keep comparing NXN vs. FLN...
Someone that didn't make the individual qualifiers out of NXN-NW finished almost top five here, and another that didn't make the individual qualifiers out of NXN-SW finished top ten here.
(I'm not saying that means one race is better than the other, this year or any year, just pointing out the interesting results)
Girls results?

Where the heck did that performance come from? Williams only finished 18th last week at CIF.
These results are so typical with 9th and 10th graders dominating. I'd be willing to bet that in two years, none of those girls are top 10. That's just how it normally is with the girls...sorry but that's just how it usually is...for all those who are all ga ga about a bunch of 15-16 years olds.
Utah, Montana, and Washington did extremely well at the top, with 10/12. but cali still had 15/30.
Marissa got sick the night before state but she ran 17:15 at Sac Invite (in a frosh/soph race-she had PSAT in the AM) and had run 17:15 at the Clovis Invite in October on the Woodward Park state meet course.
let me be the first to say that the times today were extremely impressive given the conditions of the course. interestingly, on the boys side, the last 4 years of winners were all within 4 seconds of each other (on the girls, the last two years had identical winning times). the downhills after the switchbacks and the saddle after resevoir were only slightly muddy, but very rutted and uneven, making it difficult to take full advantage of them...

not surprising with the absence of the best cali individuals and teams away in portland...

Same for Utah and Washington, though...
Marrissa Williams was the 3rd ranked girl in all of California. With Baxter not running, this is not a surprising result at all.
She ran a 17:15 at Woodward at the clovis invitational
She ran a 17:07 at Mt. Sac in a Soph race, where she beat the field by over 2 minutes (note this is the fastest time ever in a non varsity race). She also took down the Los Angeles (Pierce) course record by 30 seconds (that record was previously held by a 10:35 3200 runner - Katja Goldring).
Yeah and 38 million people in California. 2.7 million in Utah. I believe Los Angeles County has four or five times the population of Utah.
This is a silly argument. Talent doesn't matter where you live. Population density effects depth of a team not hoe good a runner is.
As for the course FL west did take a big dip in popularity when moved from Fresno and the state meet course.
Remember many of the top runners choose not to run FL, state meet is the height of HS cross country.
Not a great year for Cali XC. An average one!
