I agree. You are not "rich" but you are comfortable. I am 30 and make about 120K. I don't feel rich either. Just because someone makes more money than someone else, does not mean that they owe more to this country. The solution for the government should be to curb spending, and not spend what you don't have.
Smooth Daddy has the best response on here so far.
Maybe he saves away the majority of his earnings for retirement purposes. For example, if he says "I am putting 70% of my take home pay into investments for retirement purposes" he would feel strapped for cash, and would not be making a "poor decision".

The point I contested was the suggestion that a person who makes more than than someone else necessarily does so because of intellect or work ethic. Kim Kardashian would seem to disprove that person's statement.
Kim K is (in the eyes of millions) a beautiful woman. An aesthetic product is no less valid than an intellectual one.
An additional tax would apply to dollars earned over $250k. You are not a f...ing billionaire or an f...ing genius.
It must be hard work learning to read with that learning disability of yours, Smooth Daddy.
Until you have MARGINAL understanding of taxes it is best to keep your thoughts to yourself instead of proving you are a moron with a big mouth

Not sure which one you mean since most of his posts have been proved to be BS.
This guy actually makes some good points. Can someone argue with this? My question would also be, why should people making for $250K have to pay the extra Obamacare tax?
I'll preface this by saying I have read the original post and about three replies, and my input here will show up on about page 11. I've missed the rest of the discussion, and inevitably, I am sure Ayn Rand and Ron Paul's names appear.
I will not claim to have any intimate knowledge of tax distribution, nor do I have any children. Also, I have not gone to the BLS site to check on wage distribution figures.
With that said, sir, you have absolutely no idea how wealthy you are. I mean, the extent to which you are out of touch just amazes me. My name appears here, and I am not about to disclose my income to the general public. I can say this: my income is far under 1/3 of your's and if President Obama and Congress can get together on a plan to reduce the deficit that would result in a doubling of my Federal taxes, I will do my patriotic duty and pay my taxes without complaining.
I suppose I have little authority to say what a good father does, given I am not one myself, but really... I live in Washington, DC, a fairly high priced metro area. I don't drive a car. Maybe a good father tells his children, "If you want to drive a car, pay for the car and pay for the related expenses, including the insurance."
Again, sir, with all due respect: you earn $250,000 per year. See if you can wrap you arms around these two simple facts: (1) you are not middle income, you are rich, and (2) few things annoy the rest of us more than hearing wealthy people complain about the tax burden they bear. I'm sure you studied hard and worked hard but really, man, so did the rest of us. Buck up. You tax burden is far less than it would have been a few decades ago, and far less than it would be in most other advanced countries.
As I mentioned before:
10/10.
Thread of the year anyone?
Hurry. Call the Whambulance for poor rich guy! Doesn't want to pay for Obamacare or helping poorer people. Any problem with the military budget? Any problem with tax subsidies for rich farmers? Taxes pay for a hell of a lot more than helping poor people, pal!
Anyway, the people have spoken. Just be glad we don't go back to the tax brackets of the Eisenhower administration. You know - the "good old days".
By the way - why are you posting your sob story on a website about runners? Much more sympathy if you post to Faux News or some other right wing rag.

A true statement is BS in the eyes of a fool.
$250K isn't enough. I want twice that much.

Get married, have children, and come back on here and say this exact sentence. You can't.
Let's say your salary is $75,000. You have 3 kids and a wife that doesn't work. Then you're told you need to double your taxes....just think about that.
Everyone who is single shouldn't have an argument here. The OP is talking about taking care of his wife, children, and mother-in-law. That's 4 other people he is completely taking care of. Granted he is getting tax benefits for this, but that's still 5 mouths to feed, 5 insurances to be paid, etc. It ADDS up. Everyone is just seeing the $250k. Alright, divide that by 5. That's $50k per dependent to live on. The college kids eat that up almost instantaneously. He and his wife living on $3k per month each is hardly easy either.
Before everyone bashes this guy, try to understand the circumstances. He's not a single dude living in a bachelor pad. If he was, you can consider him very wealthy. But not under the circumstance. As I've said earlier, in the NICE Chicago burbs, he wouldn't be considered wealthy at all. $250k in some areas, with 5 dependents, could even be considered lower-class.
Obama and the dems are punishing the hardworking and successful people.
250k/year is the middle class in some areas.
You work hard all day, everyday, and Obama wants to rob from you to give to the public unions and the illegals, so he got their votes.
Everyone should be entitled to an argument potty mouth.
250K a year is not rich. Those of you who think it is are limited by your own weaknesses and lack of ambition if making money is important to you. I have few observations. 1) It is the producers that create all jobs. You are either a producer or your work for one. People earn what they are worth. That is why Haile's appearance fees are more than yours are. 2) The private economy is 100 % of the economy. The government has no source of revenue except that which is extracted out of the private economy so all government activity is based on money that is stolen and then allocated in a less efficient manner. ( I am not arguing for no government, only that the larger the government is, the less efficient the economy is. ) 3) The more you tax producers, they will attempt to evade taxes, more to lower tax area, work less, or quit. My primary care physician quit this week. He is "retired" - I just got the letter. 4) When people are given things without working for them, they tend to work less or not at all. They become more lazy, less productive and feel like they are entitled to more. 5) We are increasing by leaps and bounds the number of takers and we are not increasing the number of makers. We are discouraging the creation of wealth in every way we can. All countries that have done this eventually collapse. Romney would not have prevented this, he would have stretched it out so we blow up in 20 years instead of 5. 6) America is like a drug addict that has not hit rock bottom. We have to go all the way down to rock bottom before we will change. That is all Tuesday showed us. We will have to have a downfall before we can rebuilt it. You will see the fall of another great empire (we should not be one but we are) in your lifetime. 7) Those of us who see this coming are preparing. We won't be here when it happens and we won't have any compassion for those left behind who voted over many elections (Republicans and Democrats ) for this insanity. The rich won't be hurt. They are smarter than you. That is why they are rich and you are not. It is every man for himself if you want to survive. You have to take care of your family first. We will return and rebuild after the evil of the code of the "common good" is accepted by all. You are getting ready to get everything that you wanted and it will be exactly what you deserve. Enjoy the downfall.
