Sunday's NYC Central Park runners being blamed....

The NY Post is very good. In fact, if I ever run out of toilet paper it'll give me something to wipe my.ass with.

I had to google it ... "As of 2005, a newspaper report stated that NAMBLA was based in New York and San Francisco, and held an annual gathering in New York City and monthly meetings around the country."

This may be the best use of NYC.

I was at the finish line for an hour on Sunday. I heard one runner after another say that he or she was going to go to Staten Island or the Rockaways after the run and take food, batteries, flashlights, all the stuff that they'd heard was needed. I saw a group of more than 100 Swedes who had just run 13 miles and were going to take the SI Ferry to help. A bunch of guys from Ohio said they were going to "go do some heavy lifting" at a disaster site. Some of the people there had run 26.2 miles and were still going to help out. Why does anyone assume that the runners didn't do anything else but run? But of course, Kara Goucher got blasted for saying that she was going to go for a run and then help out with the relief effort. She was criticised for planning to run.

No, a very popular option would appear to be posting on facebook, twitter and blog sites about how terrible it was that people ran in central park.

Going to a football game, basketball game or a bar would appear to be an option for many in NYC.

For members of the Murdoch media, the preferred option would appear to be to regularly tell people that the liberal elite (personified by Mary Wittenberg and the NYRR) don't care about ordinary people and don't do anything to help the NYC communities.

That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. There are always a lot of runners and cyclists in Central Park, especially on a sunny day.

So it's ok for 80,000 Giants fans to not help out and just watch their POS team get their asses handed to them, but not for runners to run?

There were, what, 8 people who threatened runners? You don't want to help a group of people because one out of every million residents said something mean? I don't necessarily think you need to help if you don't want to, but your reasoning is a bit out there.

The article is a bunch of crap; really! If someone wanted the generators they could of had them...Obviously, a lack of coordination and communication is why they remained in central park. The people using the park, had nothing to do with supplies being pulled out of there...

With all of the advanced warning at least a week prior to the event, how much was done in preparation for the impending disaster? How much water, food, generators etc... were stockpiled in anticipation for the need that would come as a result of the hurricane? This isn't the first time this has happened in a highly populated area in recent history.

How many people stockpiled for their own needs or worked together in neighborhoods, apartment complexes, through churces, shelters etc... to be as ready as possible? I haven't heard what, if anything, was done in preparation to move in and provide emergency supplies and medical attention as needed? Why wasn't the National Guard mobilized in advance and ready to engage immediately folowing?

All we see in the media is the masses that appeared to have waited out the storm and weren't prepared only to demand immediate help, blame others, fight with each other, take advantage of each other etc...

It's an unfortunate situation that could have been better prepared for.

Lol. America throws away enough food every year to feed most of the world's hungry, but nobody cares until New Yorkers are affected. Yes, it sucks a lot that their houses are flooded and they have no electricity. Most of the developing world doesn't have electricity, or own a house to have flooded.
