dinged-up (comparative more dinged-up, superlative most dinged-up)
battered, dented by blows, injured
Feeling some aches and pains but not severely injured. Will get some rest rather risk turning it into a serious injury.

I agree that this is the definition, but jeeze.. couldn't it be a little more serious than "dinged up" if she's going to miss Heps? Heps are everything to the Ivies.
She hasn't been training since just after Paul Short. The girl is phenomenally talented but I don't see her being ready in time to make a serious bid at a national title, even if she's been cross training like hell, which I'm sure she has. Very unfortunate. But good news for Saina, Hollander and the like.
Plus D'Agostino won Heps last year in a driving snow which led to this very cool running photo.

AD'A has bigger fish to fry than the Heps. Coogan *might* be more inclined to run her at Heps, if Dartmouth had a shot at the title; but this year they don't.
Or he might not: Mark seems to be pretty oriented toward the long term.

The Heps are only everything to those for whom there is nothing else.
Oh well, she had a good run there for a while. Who's the next young American great?
