This has been a heavily criticized program in recent years.
7th place today. Solid. Looks they are back to they way they once were.

Hoping it works out for them someday as I was there during at NCAAs during their epic meltdown. Best recruits year after year and a knowledgeable and caring coach. It's everything you need to be successful and yet...they have not gotten the job done. It doesn't get much "easier" than winning at a place like Duke.
BUT they have yet to put it together when it matters most. This sport is 90% mental fitness once you reach a certain level of physical fitness. Classic type-A personalities at Duke maybe without the psychological skill sets to properly deal with the pressure they put on themselves. They need 1 or 2 100%-got-it-together upperclassmen leader(s) on the team and maybe they'll win the crown someday.
Good job on 7th at an important meet.
Nice to see Kelsey Lakowske (finally) make her collegiate debut and run very well.

Agree about the talent, but definitely disagree about the "knowledgeable and caring coach." Duke should have stuck with the decision that was made to fire him several years ago. With the talent they get, Duke should be successful every year.

yes...agreed...Kelsey is a cool kid!
Wait who were they going to fire?
I have a daughter who runs for Duke and if any girls have eating disorders they come in with them and Duke provides lots of resources to help them not hurt them. And the coach is extremely caring and individualizes every plan for every girl. My daughter is having a great experience there both educationally and athletically, but you can't ignore the high pressure environment and the personality type of the girls who choose to go there. They want to excel in all areas of their life and sometimes put too much pressure on themselves, but there is absolutely no extreme pressure from the coach. He is a good guy.

Excuse me sir, but highly motivated runners go to all kinds of schools, but Duke stands out as the one that does the least with what they get. This is a direct reflection of the coach, call it what you want, but the proof is in the pudding. I would not recommend that school (as long as the coaching staff remains the same) to anyone.

Oh come on, Duke is hardly the only program that doesn't perform as well as they could (for example, Stanford might be even worse in this regard).

Stanford has won 4 National titles in xc in the last 10 years I think, how many has Duke won?
I know what you are saying that not all the top HS girls that run collegiately will run well, but Duke has the highest failure rate of anyone anywhere.
Stanford girls have won 4 titles in the last 10 years?
Also, Stanford gets significantly better recruits than Duke, don't they?
go blue-do work.

6th place today as a redshit freshman to lead her team to second in a tough conference behind an FSU team which is as usual peppered with goddamn foreigners. Nice!

What foreigners are on FSU? I thought it was mostly FLA kids.

3 of their top 7 from yesterday are foreigners, including the race winner. None are from Florida.

I heard they were gonna get rid of somebody who didn't know when to use "whom."
Damn, there've been so many racial threads that, I swear to god, I thought the thread title said "Duke Women are Black!"
Nice to see that Ashly Brasovan was in Duke's top seven.
Just for the sake of clarity, would also point out that FSU Nos. 2-3-4-6-8-9-10 from ACC are Americans (as if it should matter). From that group are two Floridians and two from bordering states (Georgia & Alabama)
