You suck balls. Why ruin Luchini just so you can pat yourself on your PC shoulder? If their positions were reversed, you wouldn't do the same for Luchini. Jackass.

Rojo, with all due respect to your great website which I am an infamous part of, I think that your efforts are greatly misguided.
You should be petitioning the USATF to change the f***ed-up rules themselves.
Both Mr. Asmeron and Mr. Luchini made the best efforts that they could muster yesterday. What I know about distance running is that it is very conceivable that Mr. Luchini could head to Europe and run 13:19 within the alotted period.
The rules themselves are blatantly idiotic. We pride ourselves on a very democratic system of (1) Qualify for the Trials and (2) Finish in the top 3 at the Trials and (3) Make the A Standard and BOOM! YOU ARE ON THE TEAM!! However, the circumstances have destroyed the equitable and fair system that we should be proud of as AMERICANS.
I think that if Mr. Asmeron heads to Europe and runs the A-Standard, he has grounds for a lawsuit against the USATF.

i didn't like rojo much before and i f***ing hate him now
This is ridiculous. Rojo get a life man, you can't change the rules
In defense of rojo, reasonable people accept the rules while unreasonable people do not. Thus, all progress is made by unreasonable people.
I totally f***ed up that quote, huh? My point is that there is nothign wrong with trying to change the rules.
Rojo,
Who the f*** do you think you are? Do you actually think Luchini gives a flying f*** about what you think?
Well i'll guarentee you that he doesn't.
Also why didn't you address Torres in the petition as well. He's in pretty much the same boat as Louis and since you aren't their coach or anything I doubt you can really understand either one's situation.
Secondly, Bolota had just as much time to get an A or B standard. He even has a contract and has been a professional runner over the past year, which makes it easier to travel around and find good meets in which to run a standard. So he gets what he deserves cause he didn't get the job done and Luchini and Torres get a chance to make the team. This is the right thing because at least they gave it a shot and went after it within the rules.
I am also curious why you did not start a petition for Lunn to give up his spot. He also has a B standard but got beat by Myers so doesn't Myers rightfully deserve to go? By your stupid f***ing reasoning I suppose he does. But then again you would argue that Lunn had a shoe problem so thats why he didn't make it. For all you know maybe Louis just had a bad race. Well it all comes back to the rules and athletes taking responsibility for their own destiny. Bolota and Myers can only blame themselves for not busting their balls and going after a time which they needed.

Track fans,
Please take a look at a column I just put up online as in it I talk about how I feel like USATF's policy of naming potential Olympians is misguided.
http://www.letsrun.com/2004/unfilteredjuly18.phpIn that light, I have put up on a new on-line petition asking Louis Luchini to step aside from Olympic consideration so that 3rd place finisher Bolota Asmerom (who beat Luchini by almost 18 seconds) will be given a shot to chase the Olympic A standard.

This is one of the most juvenile pieces I have ever read. It reads as though it were written by a seventh grader. You were Ivy league educated?
I am really glad I didn't see this thread when it originally appeared. What a slap in the face to a good guy, Louie L.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
