Simply one person's opinion. Many others have the opinion that Oregon, with its state of the art Jaqua athletic academic center provides tools offered by very few other univerities for the motivated student athlete. Oregon also offers top rated national programs, such as the program Sports Marketing program in the Lundquist Business College, as well as outstanding potential career opportunities with companies such as Nike. I agree that most of the "printed" rankings are geared toward PhD research type programs, certainly not the type of program that an undergrad normally attends. Name one top collegiate athlete who participated in a top-rated research program whilst competing in sports as an undergrad?
Go away from Oregon (clap clap clap)

Please there are young high schoolers on this board who are applying for Fall 2013 now. I never read one poll that rates a school outside of Cali to the Mississippi as a top world ranked school.
Jordan talking about Footlocker and NCAAS- seems confident and happy with new coaching situation!
Yeah all you guys riding cali's nuts are right. Kids at Rice, Tulane, University of Texas, and Texas A&M are just a bunch of scrubs academically. Just because some people can't ride mom and dad's money all the way to school doesn't mean schools "west of the mississippi" are completely inferior to all the cal schools. and before anybody says 2 out of 4 schools I just listed are private, they give a great deal of financial aid and they are merely examples. unfortunately, some of us have to work our way through college.

That's because you don't actually read the polls. The polls rank Oregon and lots of other schools above California schools in plenty of subjects and fields.
Although I dont think Jordan Hasay improved very much at Oregon. Nobody knows what would happen if Jordan had decided to sign with Stanford, USC or UCLA. Could she have made Stanford an NCAA Championship team? Maybe. But she could also have bombed at Stanford and not even achieved what she has now at Oregon. Would Jordan have won an NCAA outdoor championship if she attended USC or UCLA. Its possible, but we will never know.
Oregon is a good enough school academically that Jordan will do fine in whatever she chooses to do as a career. People tend to forget that not all high school super stars get much better once they reach college. She has struggked in some ways. And she has been poorly handled in some ways. But Jordan has grown from those mistakes, and she still has one more year left to improve. I certainly will be rooting for her.
nice to see the hair flowing free again!
Hasay has a cute butt ;)
She made a huge mistake not choosing one of the 4 tops. But I wanted to get away from home when I was 18 too so I went in the Air Force and did my four years then got out.

No the polls DO NOT. Not only preps and undergrads, but graduate students, researchers, and professors would jump at a chance to be at a UC (except Merced), Harvey Mudd, Caltech, USC, StanPenileHof, Claremont, etc.

After watching that video. Whoah!...That girl seems confident and ready. Actually she seems like she's turned "little girlie" into professional overnight. We all remember her from her Footlocker days, through college, and until now. Wow, what an athlete. Good Luck Jordan!!!

You obviously have not looked at the polls and rankings. Stop being dumb.
Don't feel bad. Colleges still give out degrees, student loans, and have parties, pizza, beer, and such. You just aren't at one of the Four Historic Olympic Medal Factories unless you are fortunate enough to be a student at USC, UCLA, Stanford, or Cal. For others, life goes on... Enjoy your studies please.
Jerome Kopf you are an ass that hasn't a clue. You ask who else cares about this crap? You do. You took time to respond, didn't you? You say this is a cautionary tale for elite runners not to get sucked in by Oregon? Talk to anyone that has ever run at Oregon and ask if they would agree with that. You're a fatass that doesn't know a thing about the Oregon track /CC culture. For every one athlete that didn't think their running experience was incredible at UO, you have dozens and dozens of others who did. You know nothing but what your jealous imagination conjures up in moments your of deep dark depression.
You wish Jordan had continued her education somewhere else? Aww, that's so cute. You care so much about Jordan. Maybe tell her that next time you see her....she'll appreciate it so much Jeromee....
