Love the "Jordan quote of the day"
Everyone loves Jordan. How can you not love a runner of this caliber who is so humble and charming. An athlete who has a deep appreciation for the sport and continuously represents positively in academics as well as athletics.
I think this gal has a bright future ahead of her. It's just the beginning for this young lady.
I saw Jordan run at Mt. Sac when she was in high school, and it was like watching some kind of rock star. The fans were crazy over her. I hope she does well her senior season. Rock on Jordan!
hasay is temporarily at a 4 year running camp at a school where more than half the faculty are high school and vocational level instructors.
in contrast the four cali pac-12 schools are top 10 world ranked for research, are ranked top 4 in the ncaa for their athletic departments, and are top 4 in olympics medals won and international athletics medals won.

If you didn't know, the Mt Sac Relays is the world's largest track and field meet.
There are so many entrants, the relays simultaneously uses 4 head meet directors, 4 tracks and 6 fields over a 2 week period.
One intercontinental and four international airports are required to handle the numerous athletes, coachs, parents, and fans.
As a result of the thousands of volunteers who tirelessly produce the Mt Sac Relays, USATF Southern California athletes were awarded 18 medals at the 2012 London Olympics.
This includes 17 USA T&F medals which is 35% of USA T&F's total.
Oh please.
Sure its a big meet but it hardly "requires" "One intercontinental and four international airports". The fact that some people might fly to this or that airport does not mean they are "required".
Talking about several thousand athletes which, on the scale of big events....is not that big.
Jordie is our favorite runner at places such as Woodward Park, Mt Sac, Stanford GC, Cerritos, Hughes, Balboa Park, Mission Bay, Shoreline Park, you name it.
Jordie, please come back soon and often. We miss you.

If you're going to troll, at least use facts.
The OR, WA, AZ, UT schools of the PAC-12 are regular universities you'll find in any state. It's still college. it's hard work and nothing to be ashamed of.
However, the four CA schools in the PAC-12 plus UC system campuses, Cal Tech, and Claremont Colleges are the best, world ranked, for their academics and research.
Who knows, maybe if they start working on speed a lot more like they did with Rupp, she might transform into an 8:30 / 14:45 girl.

Research rankings don't matter for undergrad. And again, Oregon is better and world class ranked higher in some subjects than all of the California schools.

The blind adoration on Letsrun of all things Jordan is really weird. There is nothing even remotely interesting or profound about that quote and it reveals nothing about her personality. She may very well be humble, but that quote doesn't prove it. Besides, being humble is expected of a collegiate athlete who hasn't won any NCAA titles yet.

You're wrong. And your wrong statement is based on what exactly? How do you know there's "no effing way"? Have you even been to all of these schools?
The academic comments are off topic, but oh gaw is on target. There are dozens of college and unviversity ranking lists out there, but I've never seen a single one that has Univ. of Oregen anywhere in the neighborhood of schools like Caltech, Cal, Stanford, etc. Oregon is very ordinary state school.

These rankings do not apply to undergrads. Undergrads do not usually do research or learn cutting edge knowledge. So that rankings business is irrelevant in most undergrad fields.
But even according to those ranking lists that you guys inappropriately use to judge undergrad schools, Oregon is better in some subjects. Every school has strengths and weaknesses.
They do publish undergraduate rankings which specifically evaluate the undergraduate experience. I'm talking about those. Also, take one look at the average SAT scores of the Univ. of Oregon students in comparison to students' scores at those other schools and you'll see Oregon is really mediocre by that measure.

That's one thing the best students look for; they want to get some research under their belt to improve their grad school applications and because they're smart enough to do it. My daughter did research with a prof. the summer after freshman year. A lot of her friends at her school have done the same.

Motivation revealed.
Motivation? None. Oregon is probably the best school in the country for running and for obtaining Nike sponsorships after graduation. But let's not start saying its academics compare with schools like Caltech and Stanford. Just ain't so.
Jordan is good, but I think there are girls who are more likely to win nationals this year than she is, and teams more likely to win than Oregon's. Also, I continue to be confused about the disproportionate number of threads about her as compared to her peers, like Flood for example.
Beyond Eugene, who else cares about this extended soap? Vin let her run that double in 2011, and Eugene went gaga. TrackFactory USA did little for Hasay. She could have gone to a D3 school and run as well.
This is a cautionary tale for elite high school runners: do not let yourself get sucked in by schools like Oregon.
Jordan Hasay was a remarkable young athlete in high school. I wish she had continued her education somewhere else.
