Actually the top four dissappeared quickly. Their bascks got smaller in the time it takes to blink an eye.
Oslso has a small 6 lane track. The field was perhaps 15-16 runners, maybe more. Respectfully, I stayed out of the mix early staying at the back of the pack, and let the studs do their thing. As the race progressed I gradually moved up. With a lap to go, probably 7th of 8th. Closing in on 1200m I moved outside perhaps 3rd lane and a wall of runners, the best in the world, and found myself itching to "pull the trigger". This didn't go unnoticed by my friends, who realized what I was going to do and were very excited. "Holy Shit!" I committed HARD. Then suddenly the bottom dropped out. All of the studs made THEIR move at precisely the same time!
Like I said, it was terrifying. I think the Norwegian guy and "craw" got me on the final straight. I would love to see a video of that race. LOL!
