Tirunesh Dibaba have some people who see her for what she is...a very talent individual whose profession happens to be athletics. Most true athletes love to see how fast they can run and will have several races in their career setup for time-trialing/rabbits.
Tirunesh is content to run to win and almost ALWAYS sit on someone and outkick them. She has run only four time trial races on the track 2 over 5000m and 2 indoors.
Track world records from 2000m to 20000m have survived this long because Dibaba isn't in love with running, she runs because she happens to be very talented in athletics.
I would love for some female to shatter Dibaba's 5000m WR and then run away from her at the next Olympic 10000m and set a WR while breaking Tirunesh!
65:55 FTW
What i have anticipated on sunday...now it's sure!!!...
Here OFFICIAL STARTINGLISTS OF THE RACE!!
Thanks as always for your enthusiasm and great information, Alberto!
you're an idiot - do you know anything about her - she#s had surgery hence not running

Wow, Wilson Kipsang? Just about a month after his Olympic Marathon? I hope he is not trying to go with the leaders...too big of a check to pass?

Dibaba had side stich problems in her 15km WR in which her first 5km was over 16 minutes and her last 10km was well under 31:00 and last 5km sub 15:12.
LOL I know.
SO many races you see spending half the time clutching her side like an idiot for half the race.
Total headcase.
64:16.5
The half marathon will turn out to be Tirunesh Dibaba's best distance and she will revolutionize women's 1/2 marathon much like Mary Keitany but to a greater degree.
Prediction
1:04:56 WR and debut WR never to be broken in our lifetime
that's not a head case. you get side stitches because you haven't figured out the fueling/drinking issue and maybe there's something about core issues as well.
When Dibaba set the 15k record, it was her first road race, she was coming off of an injury, she was along the entire race and never looked stressed. It was almost the same scenerio when Defar ran the Philly Half 2 years ago...the WR is going down this weekend.
67 high or 68 low, but wins the race.
67.05

interesting tirunesh dibaba is running a half marathon in Britain the same day meseret defar is running her 2nd ever half marathon in philadelphia.
also interesting is the olympic 10000 champ t. dibaba will face olympic marathon champ 2:18 marathoner tiki gelena and they are meeting at a middle distance, also in the race world marathon champion edna kipllagat should be fun.
defar has pulled out of philadelphia.

Do you really think she will set off fast and sustain it all the way?
No, that is not going to happen.
You should lay off the stupid juice! If she is going to set a WR she's going to have to start off fast and slow very little, maintain a quick even pace, -or- start off moderately and continually increase the tempo; otherwise, how will she set a WR?
Well genius, starting fast in a half marathon is a risky strategy. Do you really think she will run the entire race on her own?
Also, it won't qualify as a World record, or even 'World best, because the course is point to point with a net downhill.

Do you mean she was alone?
She was not alone.
Or do you mean she was alongside her brother who ran with her most of the way?
I'm guessing she runs in second place for most of the way, kicks in the final mile and wins in about 1:07:30.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
