He was leading the chase pack trying to catch the leaders and I think that's what did him in. He faded.
-
It shows he's not yet in condition to compete at the world level in the longer distances. He needs to get back to his training.
-
Great run by Collis beating all the Kenyans. he is the Buster!!! Longoshiva is certainly off something that he was
on earlier. -

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Nice prediction Ventard -
This is his longest track race in a year. On the bright side, had he kept on going he still would have beaten his high school 2 mile record :)

Can we get away from this ridiculous delusion that German's best event isn't the 1500/Mile. It is clearly his best event.
If he gets in any worse condition his best event will be the 100 yard dash. -
Well, one good race and one bad race to end the season. If he can just stay healthy for a year we'll get a much better sense of what he can accomplish.
Best of luck to GF. -

Are you a dog, or a person with severe memory problems? German JUST RAN 3:34! -
These results are bizarre. Longosiwa, a sub 12:50 guy running 7:49 and losing by 12 seconds to Birmingham? The latter winning by 5 seconds? Curtis taking second ahead of three Kenyans, including Longosiwa and Kemboi?? What happened with the pacers?

What a nitwit. -
The results are Bizarre!!! Doesn't make any sense! He should have been able to at least run in the low 7:40's at his current level of fitness. He might of just ate something bad or was tired, who knows? Sometimes he's either on fire or just hang'in on! Get'em next time!!!!!!

Ventolin as usal your insanity escapes no one, there is never a guy yet who you do not have running faster than they can or DID
7:32 would be absurd for a guy who has run under 3:37 once and never under 13:25 and who has not run a real fast track longer effort in years or in distance since XC
What this guy said is spot-on and what Ventolin said is lunacy, even for him. In order for him to not call me MORON and IDIOT, I will send Ventolin $10 if Fernandez runs 7:32.99 or faster. I guarantee it. -

that's what a "perfect" race means
7:32 would be absurd for a guy who has run under 3:37 once and never under 13:25 and who has not run a real fast track longer effort in years or in distance since XC
idiot
the under-3'37 was 3'34 you moron
if you have that much speed & reckon 5k is your best distance, then looking towards 7'30 is your expectation -
YOu have become a laughing stock on here making every prediction off an optimum day situation, based off WHAT would German run 7:32 a time run by how many Americans? When he has run distance race of this length at this pace ?
It was a ludicrcus prediction under any formula, he ran 3:34.x ONE time, way off the back single file, closing down nicely.
How does that translate to 7:32? It doesn;t
You do not go from 7:47 and step thru to 7:32 very often if at all.
Still using his 7:47 four years ago as his baseline against his 3:39 1500? 3:55 mile?
Until he runs 7:47 again, I would have been very surprised if he ran 7:40 flat
You are the moron, I called you no names that is all you got? Come on now novice number cruncher. -
Re: Author: Should be noted
I would say a couple of good races and not just one. Before Berlin he won a 1500 race and then ran the 3:34. He's not in top form by far and the results of that are usually inconsistency. He'll be back as long as he stays healthy. -

he said he was a 5k guy
you run 3'34 off 5k training, you'd expect 7'30
learn moron

Ventolin,
Who are you? Would you be kind enough to give us your real name and credentials? -
he hadn't been training for 3k/5k until late June or July; it had all been 1500m w/OK St, so it was not clear that he was optimally trained yet for higher distances. Having run 7:47i when he was quite sick four years ago, and with injury problems, and then frontrunning 3:39 that year (and 13:25 trailing), you might reasonably predict him to drop ten seconds or more in the 3k, and then add the Euro pacing to get him to 7:35. 7:32 was very optimistic. He's never run close to that pace for 3k. But I would bank on him running close to that next year, and low 13, with a full year of Schumacher training in the bank, assuming health.
