Damn auto-correct feature on my iPad will take a misspelled word and transform it into something completely unintended. That "chest" should have been "cheat."
I suppose you're going to blame Steve Jobs for "pour" instead of "pore" too?

Well, I'll be. Been using that word wrong all these years. I'll see if I can dig up the thread that deals with all the commonly misused words on this board. Thanks for you're lesson.

Lesson #2: your, not you're.
The Democratic party has published evidence of Biden's 1980 Marathon Result
1 Waldemar Cierpinski (GDR) 2:11:03
2 Gerard Nijboer (NED) 2:11:20
3 Satymkul Dzhumanazarov (URS) 2:11:35
4 Vladimir Kotov (URS) 2:12:05
5 Leonid Moseyev (URS) 2:12:14
6 Rodolfo Gómez (MEX) 2:12:39
7 Dereje Nedi (ETH) 2:12:44
8 Massimo Magnani (ITA) 2:13:12
9 Joe Biden (USA) 2:13:27
10 Robert de Castella (AUS) 2:14:31
Here's a good start:
"lie" vs. "lay"
as previously noted: "your" vs. You're
"its" vs. it's
"heel" vs. "heal"
lose vs loose

Further proof he was born in Kenya.

I hope you aren't the smartest one in your family!
Amazing how many folks are willing to excuse a lie like this just because they share the guy's politics. True proof of a lack of any moral convictions.
Very cool virtual race among politicians:
Prove for Harry Reid's marathon (3:16 h, 1972 Boston):

(with newspaper clipping)
Reid was an amateur boxer too. Must have been in pretty good shape back in the day.
The Grand Rapids (Michigan) Marathon always has pace groups associated with people--you can try to beat Oprah's time, or G.W.'s, etc. They also have a "3:00" group, which I believe has always been unnamed.
They should clearly make it the "Paul Ryan's Dreams" group, or some such thing.
Is 3:16 really that good, even for a casual runner? I wouldn't be very proud of a 3:16 but maybe he is a "runner" because he was really into the sport.I guess this post deals more with the "training to run well even though you are slow" versus "actual time run."

Context. For a future Senate Majority Leader, I'm pretty confident that it is a world record.
Not sure what you mean by "casual runner", do casual runners run marathons? It's certainly not a time that is going to make you competitive for marathon awards if you are a sub 50 year old male, but 3:16 would probably be in the top 25-30% of any normal race.

I would say so - but then, 3:16 is coincidently my personal record so far.
;-)
Max Baucus ran 3:01 at the Governor's cup at 5000 feet elevation in MT (and usually hot as hell, though I don't know about that year).
My Senator can kick your Senator's ass, Wisconsin! Even the nine year old kid on the frontpage can whip on your boy (even WITH his made-up-more-than-an-hour-too-fast PR).
As for the 14ers, man do I smell a whopper!

Anyone else feel dissapointed in and let down by Wejo? Maybe I haven't been here long enough, but with his attacks on cheaters in sport, this is the height of hypocrisy.
And what does Obama's genuine slip about 57 states or Biden's plagiarism and lies (which cost him the presidential nomination 20 years ago)have to do with blatant and deliberate lie?
First of all I am different from Rojo.
I just now reading most of thread.
I think Ryan's situation is very different from someone who cheats at the sport. Ryan did not cheat. From what I can tell, one time he said he ran a 2:50 something marathon. That clearly was not true. When questioned about this assertion he said it was not true.
I have no idea whether it was a "blatant and deliberate lie".
The ten miles part of the interview seemed weird to me. Does he really run ten miles now? He does try to be giving the impression he was/is fast. He used the word "marathons" instead of marathon which you notice when you listen to it.
I think he ran 3:50 something for the marathon from starting line to finishline. I think he could misspeak and say 2:50 and then on top of that still give the impression he was fast. These aren't mutually exclusive things.
As a 40 +year old guy he probably wants to cling to his youth and being a jock.
I can't fathom why someone would lie about their marathon time but clearly people do do it. People like to exaggerate athletic accomplishments. Part of the deal is we're discussing this issue with so many people who get a large part of their identity from the times they run. I was discussing the Ryan issue with my aunt who definitely is voting for Obama and she thought it was totally inconsequential and figured he could have misspoke. She's not a runner.
I'm more interested in the 14,000 footer claim and what has been found with that and it looks like his high school letters. A pattern of lieing about athletic prowess to me is a bigger deal than a one time instance even if you think it was deliberate here.
Ryan's a very fit guy from reading this thread, sounds like he wants us to think he's even fitter.
However, deliberately saying you ran a 4:50 mile when you ran 5:50 sounds nuts to me so I can see a non-runner screwing that up.
We've got an interview coming with the guy who started this thread. It's a good read.

I think that is what is so disapointing about your bro. He is not like your aunt. He IS a runner. From a runner's perspective it is very hard to accidently misstate a 4:01 to a 2:50 something. When he was complemented on the time he tries to burnish the lie even more. Your bro can't seem to call Ryan out only because of his adoration of his political philosophy.
Outside of starting this thread, should I know the OP? My lack of running history knowledge may be showing by that question.
Thanks Wejo for showing everyone once again why you are infinitely more awesome than Rojo.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
