I'll begin with my own predictions. Duane Solmon will not break the AR and Rudisha will run sub 140. Solmon has been having a great breakthrough season but I think he may be overextending himself now, the Olympic final was a one of a kind race and I don't believe he will improve his PR until next year. He has been going a long time and moving very fast through the ranks of competition, things have to slow back down and I think it will be in Zurich. Thats not to say he doesn't have a great future and I believe he will break the AR in years to come (unless Symmonds does first???). Rudisha on the other hand has and always will be a complete beast. He can run very very fast with or without rabbits. With a good rabbit he will break his on WR and could possibly go 1:39.xx I believe.
I don't think Rudisha will break the WR. I think he reached his peak in London.
I predict he'll go through 400 in 48.7, and miss it by a whisker. Maybe 1:41.1, unless he has good drafting up to 550m, and then he might run 1:40.7.
I think the latter time represents his absolute peak, and I don't think he'll get any faster after this season.
I don't know if Sammy Tangui is good enough to pace Rudisha any more. He might get him to 500 meters. Rudisha can run 1:40 without pace so ideally he'd ask for 1:14.0 at 600m and there aren't many pacesetters who can do that.
I predict 1:41 high for Rudisha and the rest of the field in 1:43+.

Bingo. How can a meet with Zurich compare to the setting at London... Rudisha put it all out there. The pacer is gonna have to make up for the loss of fire. I'd say he runs 1:41.2x
Could anyone else see Rudisha passing the pace setter if he feels he isn't going fast enough??? I think it's possible...
Rudisha WON'T win in Zurich and will never run under 1:41 for the rest of his career.

and who do you suppose will beat King David in Zurich?
Hard race to figure..other than Rudisha winning. I'll say 142.42 then 1 143.xx then some 144s.

Nice thoughts and predictions.
Totally agreed about Zurich and this season. Rudisha has been on a plateau since at least as far back as his 1:42a in June, and it's hard to seem him getting quicker this year.
Looking forward to seeing how low he can take it next year!
Get your predictions in people
My prediction:
Rudisha barely breaks the WR in 1:40.87 or something close to that. Tangui will do a horrible job pacing and everybody on LetsRun will wonder why Rudisha doesn't use Scherer. Ventolin will come up with some out-there reasoning to show that Rudisha can break 1:40, but it won't matter because Jim Ryun could have beaten him anyways. Finally, somebody will claim that Rudisha is the greatest 800 runner of all time, to which all the white guys will claim that a guy who never won gold and ran his world record in a race with a timing malfunction is better. Have a great day.

1:39 for Rudisha. Symmonds 1:41 high. Another Kenyan 1:42
low.
I think Rudisha's peak is somewhere around 1:40.2 but i think he can break 100 but only with someone who is capable of 1:40 right on his hip. I give Solomon another low 1:43 but eventually he will begin to perform like JG lead and be upfront but not win. I could be wrong. Rudisha wont get his record because i believe he doesn't need a pacer his speed reserve is amazing. Id honestly would have rather see him go up against Kirani James over 400m then watch another WR attempt.

Symmonds season has been over.... He's off in North America fishing...
Wasn't it in Zurich 1997 that one Kipketer came through the 400 in under 49 ...on his way to 1:41.xx?
