I wonder how Rupp will handle a race without Farah
I think Rupp has made a remarkable recovery from the bout of "bronchitis" that kept him from finishing 1500 last week.
I say Farah's chicken.
No big Bekele. Is he done for the rest of the season?
Just a guess but Kenenisa might be getting ready for the 10000 in Brussels.
This field is insane! I'm calling a race similar to the Olympic 800, where nearly everybody sets place records (minus the WR of course) with Rupp running some ridiculous time like 12:47 and only finishing in 6th or so.
Lagat (I assume Mark Kiptoo is a rabbit) is by far the oldest in the field and even Rupp and Lomong are older than practically everyone else in the 22-man race.
Median PR -- 12:52.4.

It's sort of like Zurich, but not quite. Apparently, they have a pretty good track meet, too. Maybe it's just a trackish meet?

You don't know anything to say anything about this; so why don't you just shut up?
Really, you post a lot of bad willed crap.
We won't know until the race unfolds.
One thing I can tell you (again) is that Salazar doesn't tell lies.
The thing is, he is so honest and transparent that idiots like you twist it into bad willed comments as Rats On A Message Board.
Something more constructive that you might say...is that yes, it is an amazingly stacked field and there is a chance for Lopez Lomong to finally have a good race/result since his Stanford 5,000 debut. Or Lagat. And Rupp IF full recovered from bronchitis might just get after the American Record.
I think it will be tough for this race to get down to 12:45. Pacing/conditions have to be just right and the whole field has to go for it and not ease off after the pacemaker drops.
I think it would be hard not to consider Gebremeskel as the #1 ranked 5k runner this year if he runs under 12:50 and wins again. Sure, he lost to Mo in the Olympics but Farah wasn't in Paris and won't be in Zurich.
I'm interested to see what Lomong can do, though I won't pretend that he's going to contend. It will be disappointing if Rupp isn't healthy enough to run his best.

Duck, you just fell into the trap. These LR trolls will never go away, so you just need to ignore them. Pardon me for stating the obvious.
Great-looking field! Perhaps almost too good. I doubt the pace will be any faster than 12:50. Maybe 12:53 range for the winners.

I think it would be ridiculous to not consider the dominant world and Olympic champion as the global number one.*
I'm sure if we asked the athletes themselves who they consider as the best it'd be Mr Farah.
*Unless someone goes mad and pulls out a sub 12:40 or something, and I really don't see that happening.

Huh? Write in English, man.

OK. Thanks for that. Same with Lance Armstrong, right? You naif.

I sure hope so. It will prove my point about last week's "bronchitis" being utter BS.

Probably. That pony is down to one trick.
looks great, but I can't be a track fan anymore because time warner doesn't carry universal sports anymore.
And Universal sports posts the race winners in their video section so you can't see races without knowing who won.
And universal won't let me pay to see the meet.
Absurd.
i want to see all 3 americans go under 13 minutes.
Unfortunately you can't win a major medal at only a DL meet.

Apparently Alberto has gone from being a catalyst in a resurgence of U.S. distance running to being on a par with George Washington: the only mortals who have lived any length of time without uttering a falsehood.
A Duck is so stupid that he doesn't realize that for Alberto to have been married for any length of time it is an absolute prerequisite to have told some lies. A Duck is one of those sycophants who drowns in gullibility and hero worship, a combination which renders one mesmerized and stupid, although this is rather a chicken and egg phenomenon in his case.
