Now we check iaaf website: birthday is March 14, so about 16.5. You got lucky :) Saying that guy's math was wrong was stupid though.
I do however agree that math education is problematic in this country.
I didn't get lucky. I don't just make stuff up, i verify it. Anyone who just assumes someone is some age, while making a post about how crazy the time is for their age, shouldn't be posting. It would have made more sense for him to say 16. Not only because the odds were greater, but because any point at 15 and such he could have been, would be closer to 16 than 15.
I have friends know him. He look old younger, when you was 20 years old.
This is a strong start and it must have felt good to beat Heath & Bumbalough whom he easily smoked a few years back. Let's see next if he can bring down a little his 3k PB to around 7:42\3ish or faster!!!!
After a full NCAA season and only a couple of weeks with a new coach, this year is probably just to gain experience. I would not expect great times this European trip, what I would like to see him do is try to get on the USA world xc team this winter.
what is his PB now since you suggest he can lower it to 14:03?

I didn't say a "couple" weeks. I said a "few" weeks.
Couple means 2.
Few can mean 4 - 8.

German's been with Schu for a few weeks. Unless really good or bad, the times mean nothing. German hasn't even started a true (before season starts) training cycle with him. Not saying it isn't good to race, though.
Except he's been training in flagstaff all summer.
Here's some great video of the race:

It looked like a bit of both to me, though mostly smiling. :)
THE DUDE LOOKED GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
THAT'S ONE SMOOTH FIT SON OF A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
You gotta love the green and black too!!! Seeing him in those colors is very, very COOL!!!!!!! He stepped on the juice with about 300 to go and held it all the way. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!! He's gotta be pleased with that!!!!
I love the simile/grimace thing! Ha! He was probably just messing around enjoying the moment!
G-MONEY ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!
Something is clearly wrong with Bumbalough. He should have won that easily but he had nothing on the last lap. I hope he figures it out. German looks good. I think he still has a very bright future.
I honestly thought this thread was about a man from Germany winning in Belgium.

GF looked good, I almost could not find him until I realized he was in a green top, not orange.
55.xx last lap. not bad for his euro rust buster.

It's fine if you looked it up - good job. But then you could have criticized him for not looking up the guy's age, although that would have been pretty dickish too (just not stupid, at least).
Instead you came off as someone who didn't think it's possible to be born in 1996 and be 15 right now. And it was ironic.
Cheers
German ran a 3:40 mile?! Wow. Dave Smith really was holding him back, huh?
