This is worse than the drug cheats. Makhloufi ran a legit 800 after the Olympics. Jeter is facing two awesome 100m fields in 4 days. What Mo/Birmingham organizers are doing is literally stripping the balls off of track and field.

I'll be turning off the broadcast before the start of this one because I already know who won. Disgusting.

I agree with you. I mean bobby Curtis is great and all but a nobody on the world stage. Farrah will destroy him. Why are these stupid raves always set up for Farrah to just win like its a joke. relax the 2 mile race tomorrow i am sure is really just a tune up for next thursdays zurich 5000 which will probably have anyone that is anyone and the yet unknown superstars of the very near future.

every year in almost every race in zurich its like the lineup is incredible, maybe they might throw a top steepler like e. kemboi or p. koech to challenge farah, lagat says he is going for a fast time, rupp says he will attempt the american record in zurich.

i always like to see loaded fields, but i am kind of happy farah is unlikely to have to go to hard tomorrow, i want to see him fresh for zurich, maybe sub 12:45?

As for ducking competition he has run indoors , on the roads and on the track in events from 1500 to half marathon just about all year. Yet despite his success you state Dave Torrence will beat him.! Mo has nothing to prove to uninformed trolls l He is currently the best distance runner on the planet and will remain the best for this year no matter whatever happens from now on. It's not even like you are judging him on a subjective sport so suggest you go and give your opinions on a soccer forum.

First, I want to be clear that it's not entirely mo's fault that the field sucks. Meet organizers are to blame for that.

Second, he doesn't deserve sympathy because his wife just have birth. He would only if it were an actual race. Since this race was set up to let him win I'm sure they'll play up a British record attempt then pay the rabbit to screw with the pacing so it ends up a slow race. All to better suit Mo Farah. 9:13 is more likely than 8:13 with the way he runs.

I'm sick of these setup races. It's exactly what makes track and field a once every four years sport. If Birmingham wants to throw a parade for mo that's great but they shouldn't do it around the track.

a) Blame meet director Ian Stewart for setting up a cakewalk for Farah and b) blame British tax laws which take a bite out of athletes ENTIRE earnings -- i.e. even non-British earnings. No wonder Bolt won't compete in Britain with the tax laws the way they are.

Athletes are too greedy. They should run for the hono(u)r.

They make enuff as it is so don't claim they are just trying to make a living like everyone else (who also have to pay taxes.)

Seriously. The guy has earned the right to run in whatever race, at whatever distance, against whoever he wants for the rest of this year. Anything the rest of the year is just for time and fun. He's already double olympic champion. If he lost it doesn't matter as the only thing that does is peaking for the olympics this year.

Surely the British 2 mile record is still held by Ovett, around 2.13.

Mo hardly needs to extend himself to beat that.

Er - 8.13 of course.

Ovett holds the outdoor record 8.13.51 but has already run quicker than that indoors (8.08.07)
