Lance must have known that the USADA had some strong evidence. By giving up right now I suppose he can still say that it was a witchhunt and maintain his innocence while hoping that the true extent of the evidence is not revealed to the public.
I bet he could have gotten away with this if he hadn't attempted his comeback at the Tour de France in 2009 or turned himself into a world-class Ironman triathlete - those were very stupid and arrogant decisions on his part!
