Another name which I heard while working as a customer service operator was a guy with the last name of Stanko.
Stanko is one ive heard a few times before, but Funkhouser is new.

I always felt bad for this family that had three boys I went to school with - Kuntz. It's pronounced like Koontz, but try explaining that to a middle school boy.
Recently, though, I met a family with the last name Titsworth. Wow.

I understand having pride in your ethnic background but if you live in an English-speaking country and your name is Lipschitz then why not change your name to Liebowitz or something to maintain your ethnic identity but avoid having a name that sounds like Lipschitz. There's a reason the brand isn't "Polo by Ralph Lipschitz".
Same goes for Pujols. Why not be Puente or Portillo or Polanco instead?

As a teacher I've seen several that kids have been made fun of: Dick, Johnson--which is pretty common but not when your first name is Anita... Butts, Koch...

My friend Richard lives in Holden, MA. His last name is Hertz. That's right....Dick Hertz from Holden.
My high school history teacher's name was Larry Hoar, pronounced just the way you'd think.
He had a wife and daughter, who all (at that time in the US) would have had his last name.
