Just saw the 3k results from stockholm and saw that Jager ran 7:35 and wondered this myself. Anyone think Jager could challenge rupp in a race over 1500m, 3000m or 5000m?

7:32
7:28.5
Rupp is on a whole different level at least with respect to flat races. He's run 3:34, his indoor 2 mile converts to 7:33, and he's run 12:58. All of these are faster times than Jager's PB's
7:30.
Jager's doing great but I don't think he could hang with Rupp at this distance yet. Give him another year or two.
Rupp can run a 12:58?
He just failed miserably to run a 13:41......
Jager would spank him in a flat 3k and steeple. Rupp is a 10k guy just like Pre, Pre was just a man and didn't let people sit on him and kick.

No way. Rupp would own him at every distance. In fact, he'd probably own him at the steeple with a month of practice.
I would put Mo at 7:25 right now, so 7:26 sounds about right for Rupp.

Are you serious? If you have to ask this, I think you should leave letsrun.
Rupp has run a 12:58...12:58.90 to be precise, at Pre.
Don't compare him to Pre or Jager please, they are both solid runners with American history, but I can't tell if you're serious or not.

OK, you have officially disqualified yourself as someone who knows anything at all about that of which they post.
Congratulations!

Yeah, and Galen can do it. Next point please.
So you say Rupp is as fast Geb, Morceli, Bekele, etc. over 3000m?
7:25 is a whole different league... Rupp will never get there!
Mo 7:30, Rupp 7:32
you saw reason today why they didn't run better than 7'25
shitty pacing
geb never got better than 4'56 ( komen had 4'53 ) & actually ran a 7'25/7'26 off a 5'01 !!!
isiah is obviously in big <<7'30 shape ( had 55 finish ) but wabbit sped off too fast at 28 & 59 & detached away
the gap remained, but wabbit slowed to 2'30, but chance of fast 3k gone as they weren't going to get even-paced 4'56/4'57 you need for 7'25 ( they were only aiming for 7'30 target which is poor )
2nd km was odd as longosiwa made a break but did nothing with it
if he'd still had peak strength he couda aimed for 7'26/7'27, but faded badly to 7'40
in effect, isiah ran a solo 7'30 with 55 finish
it's not

3'34.75/12'48.00 ->
7'28.83
12'51.79
or maybe even
3'33.0/26'35 - 26'40 ->
7'25.18 - 7'25.73
12'45.53 - 12'47.12
after all
3'30.00/12'40.00 ->
7'20.73
& mo has to be offered 26'30 - 26'35 at worst as 10k champ
& as he outkicks them all in 5k as well, 3'31 - 3'32 at worst
3'32.00/26'35.00 ->
7'23.91
12'44.31
3'32.00/26'30.00 ->
7'23.36
12'42.73
3'31.00/26'35.00 ->
7'22.64
12'43.09
3'31.00/26'30.00 ->
7'22.10
12'41.51

I love the 2 mile -> 3000m conversions you guys come up with.

1.08 standard conversion
nothing new
I'm coming up with 7:23
that's bangalangadanga certified.
if he's at 2 to go at 4:59, he could go 1:53 his last 800. It wouldn't be easy, but he could do it.
