If 5, then
6. Marathon - 2:15:25. It's far superior to 29:31. If drugs are necessary to run the 10,000 WR, then Paula was doped and probably with something that runners can't use anymore.

Caveat - a couple of decades ago we would have said the same about Beamon.
Edwin Moses consecutive races won of 122.
men are not coming close to long jump record
as no chronic steroid use ,
to strengthen up ankle (ligaments ,tendons) ,so can take extra force ,speed
and loading of muscles and ankle ,at takeoff .
the mens 400m and 400mh will go with better blood doping
and with newer oxygen carrier peds could be sooner than later .already in 800m .

Besides Flo Jo's 100m,200m and Daniel Komen's 3000m. What are other records that will never be broken??
Thoughts?
I agree with the womens 100m, almost unbeatable under normal conditions. Also the womens 200m is very hard, but still a much better chance to be broken than the 100m. I don't agree with the mens 3000m. For sure a fantastic record, but not better than the 1500m, 5000m and 10000m records (more the opposite). If a "new Bekele" comes around who concentrates more on the shorter distances, this record can fall.

Never is a very long time, but I'll go with standing high jump and the Parada del Sol 10-k.
to those who say they wont get broken because these athletes cheated.
1. some athletes currently are cheating.
2. the athletes cheating currently are using PED's far superior to what the chinese, flojo ,etc were on.

And yet there he was, on the Olympic stage. On the IAAF Council and some OC.
Can Rocky pole vault?
After checking the IAAF Council members list I now know Alberto Juantorena's full name is Alberto Juantorena Danger.
Along with an apparently-reanimated Abby Hoffman.
Being able to fly is cheating at pole vault. It's like how far can you throw a bird.

This is the correct answer. They've done the stats, and Paula's 2:15 is statistically the strongest record.

Exactly...or the same about Ryun's HS mile record - until Webb came along...all it takes is that one special athlete - like Bolt

they will all be broken the question is when. look at the 4 x 100 women they completely smashed a 27 year old record.
I agree. Don't understimate North American chemists!

Womens 10,000m, 1500m... pretty much any record that is by doped up chinese woman
And pretty much all records created by doped Moroccans, Kenyans and Ethiopians between 1995-2006.
2:15 is far superior to 29:31, I agree. And there is no doubt in my mind that Paula Radcliffe could have easily broken that 29:31 on the day she ran 2:15. If you think otherwise then you're an idiot. :)
In her 3000m WR Wang Junxia ran the last 2000m in 5:24.1 which should be the WR for 2000m as it's faster than 5:25.4 by O'Sullivan. A WR to close a WR. 1500m splits I think of 4:07 (faster than the London Olympic race) and then another in 3:59. In some years they don't even break 4!! The last k was run at 3:54 1500m speed.
Doped or not, I would love to see footage of it. And Paula's is probably the greatest clean record on the women's side.

I don't think this is significantly different to 14:11. There's aren't that many paced women's 10k races, when there is one with the right conditions I think this should be in reach. Perhaps not for Defar, Dibaba, Cheruiyot but for the next generation to follow them.
Any women's "record" before 2005 and especially in the 80's-90's.
How about that 8'+ high jump by Satomayor? When is the last time an athlete has even come close?

Yes but I was talking about the 10000. The 2000 or 3000 are not run often enough to be significant and used as examples.
As someone else pointed out, 29:31 is in line with the current 5000m WR.
29:31 is not astonishing. What is astonishing is that no women has run close to it in a long time. Oh well, the $ is on the road.

2" (0.05m) close: 12 years ago
Sotomayor 2.44m (1989, = 8'), 2.45m (1993)
Voronin 2.40m (2000)
Ukhov 2.39m (2012), semms to be in good shape ...
