Agreed, why isn't she talking about joining Hudson's group in Boulder? He seems to have a good stable of runners, none of her caliber but still, that she can train with
Hudson would be my choice since Schumacher isn't an option

Why is everyone so quick to think that Hudson, Shumacher, or anyone is a better spot that the Hansons? No one has had better results with a larger group of athletes than the Hansons. Maybe Meb and his coach are a special exception, but that is just one athlete. The Hansons have consistently but athletes on World teams and both of the last Olympic teams. I think that merits respect for at least their ability to coach the marathon.
are you serious? The Hansons have 2 marquee athletes in their history - Sell and Davila. The rest of the team sucks. You know this right? They had Menefee as their sole 5k/10k guy to do something on the track. That's it. The rest of the team is not noteworthy. Plus, Michigan weather sucks and there is no altitude. Hastings should go there if they pay huge bucks, that's it.

Does Smyth still run?
He's running New Haven.

I'm sorry, but Amy Hastings has more sense than to feel she has to go to Detroit! Miserable weather, high crime area, lousy economy & people leaving the state in droves!
She likes California ... Wouldn't be surprised if she stays there. She seems more like a person driven by her sport and at her level now, she should be able to call her own shots that make sense to her.
No wonder Amy likes Southern California, Dago and La La Land won 53 Olympic medals in London which includes 18 in track.

True they have coached alot of talented, successful athletes but pick ONE(other than Davila) who is a truly world class performer? I think you'll find they are pretty thin on the ground at the Hansons compared to most other groups. Yes they make teams but in reality all they do is fill up the spaces on the marathon team at world championships because the top performers(Meb, Hall, Ritz, etc) turn them down.
You all are missing the point. Who cares about most of the group. If you team up Des Davilla, Neely Spence and Amy Hastings over the next 4 years, that is an amazing team not far behind Flanagan, Goucher and Koll. The Hanson group trains in Rochester Hills which is a very upscale part of SE Michigan where most of your 6 and 7 figure auto executives live. There are beautiful wooded trails and bike paths on which to train. The weather does suck for 2 or 3 months a year, but the Hansons have a winter spot in Florida for those winter months. This could be a great fit for Amy.
Finally, someone that gets it. Yes, Davila and Sell are the only two to run very well at the World Marathon Majors and make the Olympics. The Hansons are the only coaches that had an athlete make both the Beijing and London marathon team. No other coach can say that. Hall made both teams but had Mahon the first time and himself/God the 2nd time. Besides Jerry and Alberto really no one has more than 1 world beater on their roster at the same time(now that Mahon's group seems to be losing people).
I agree that with the addition of Hastings to Davila and Spence, they would have 3 of the top 5k-marathon girls in the country. They are a younger crew as well.
Rochester is far from Detroit and is actually where Detroit's wealthy choose to live. Not a bag gig but really nothing compares to SD if you want to take it that far.
it baffles me. To this day. That anyone thinks these groups work.
Might she not be better off under Ray Tracey and training with Smith and Huddle?

That is probably why it is taking a bit of time. The Hanson's make the most obvious sense, but there are plenty of directions she could go. Hudson, American Distance Project, Team USA Minnesota, Team USA Arizona, Tracey, they are all possibilities. I'm sure she is visiting most if not all of the above before anything becomes final.

Whoa! Rochester Hills is not the squeaky clean & safe spot you cite. Compared to Detroit is looks good ... but who doesn't look good compared to Detroit.
Rochester Hills actually has more crimes per square mile than the rest of Michigan (see last chart).
It has an overall Crime Index of 63 ... meaning 37% of communities across the USA are safer!! Something to think about as one runs around the community.
http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/mi/rochester-hills/crime/It's great they have great weather there and a safe urban area to visit.
Wow those are interesting. If your source is accurate it appears that you better get out of Flagstaff and Boulder
Interview with Hastings post London but pre leaving mammoth announcement. The last 10 minutes or so of the podcast:
Not particularly forthcoming with her plans for the rest of the season. Does say how much she likes California though
Is her brooks contract up?

Probably at the end of the year as I imagine most athletes will be. Though I would think that given this years performances Brooks will probably want to hold on to her
Possible reason why Hastings hasn't announced a new coach yet. Look at the photo closely(I didn't get it at first; someone pointed it out to me)
