A real genius.
A real genius.
40 is just a test of acceleration
Chris Rainey is by far the fastest 40yard runner in the NCAA.
It is fairly apparent 'the obvious' intended to write '0.15 seconds or more.' Check the math, 4.30 - 0.15 = 4.15 seconds.
"Everyone used to criticize Carl Lewis, saying he didn't have a good start, but praise him for his great kick. Absolutely wrong! Carl spread his energy evenly. He would drive out of the blocks and accelerate for almost 70 meters. And everybody in the 100 slows down in the last 10 to 20 meters of the race. So the question is who slows down the least? " -Joe Douglas.
There's no reason to suppose that Bolt accelerates as fast as he can when running the 100. There's no reason to suppose he reaches 100 percent of his top speed. In fact, to race optimally he should do neither.
Get the f##k outta here. Screw espn for airing this and Denard for disrespecting the olympic and world record holder. The kid needs to work on being the fastest in his sport first before he attempts to think about bolt. Mo greene went through this same ish and killed the 40 and he ONLY ran 9.8. Trell kimmons would bust this kids azz, tell him to race doc patton or someone else, dont disrespect track thinking just cuz ur fast u can beat the best ever. And desmond howard and anyone else that backs denard is a joke. Football players dont train to brun fast they train to play football. Is this kid even faster than jeff demps, or trindon holiday? Bolt would crush demps every step of the way, it bothers me that the kid says he would "probably" lose at 100 or 60.B#&&h please aint no guessing about it, youd lose.
What a dumb f*ck this denard is. My god he's an idiot. A 40 would not even be close, bolt would wipe his ass with this little piece of crap. Sure bolt is a "slow starter", but guess what, he's also the best sprinter ever and his "slow" start is still probably considerably better than this douches. Also this kids 40 time is bogus compared to track times since we need to add 0.24 seconds for the hand timing and about 0.15 for the reaction time since the 40 is timed with the athlete starting and then the timer being started, thus the clock starts when you start running. So his 4.32 comes out to be a more legit 4.71 using track timing. He'd be a solid high school sprinter
No guessing required. Robinson has run the collegiate indoor 60 with a PR of 6.81. That would not even come close to making the final at the NCAA meet. The WR is almost half a second faster, 6.36.
A gap of 0.45 is huge, even in the 100. Compare a 9.9 (world class) to a 10.35 (hundreds of college runners). Or take the difference in speed, which translates into a gap of 0.75 for a 100. 10.65 is a good but unremarkable high school sprinter.
Denard would probably beat the WOMEN'S medalists most of the time in a 100... but he's delusional about being fast for a man.
What is Bolt's 60m PR?

I think everyone on here is not realizing that Bolt is NOT trying to get through 40m as fast as he can. That is counterproductive to running a good 100m time, isn't it?
So, looking at his 40m splits from his races just means the SLOWEST he could run a 40m. If he actually tried....then what? SprintGeezer?
No RT penalty in the 40 yard dash, IIRC.
has anyone mentioned that these football 40's are timed from a flying start?
what is Bolt's split from 50-90 meters? that's where Rawson was getting his numbers from, and it's also why Bolt would CRUSH any football player

Dunno, but I am making a wild guess that he could make the NCAA final. Just a hunch.
The football 40 is their equivalent of gym class 'mile' times.
He is Probaby right wrote:
Usain Bolt hit 40 meters in about 4.8 seconds. Which comes out to be around 4.35 seconds for 40 yards (36m).
And there are several football players that could do that. We all know bolt sucks at starting. He also hit 60m in about 6.5 which is fast compared to Robinson's 6.8 he has posted in college.
I think it would be close first 40 yards.
You can't compare the two. Football 40s are handtimed with a flying start. The timers start their watches when the runner runs past the starting line. This is already a huge time advantage. Robinson could not run that time out of the blocks.
Not sure what difference it makes - I bet I could take down Bolt in a marathon.
I religiously watch the NFL combine each year (my dream to audition my skills still burn with a bright glow) and starts in the 40 yards there are still.
The dude's name is Denard, end of debate.
Bolt split 6.29 at 60m in his WR 100m.
A while back, there was some NFL athlete boasting that he could beat Usain Bolt in the 40 also. I think you'll find this mentality in a lot of the NFL athletes.
I don't know how a 40 compares to a 100, but I would assume Bolt would toast 'em.

Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
