With the start line announcement snub, it sounds like Meb ran this race on pure hate. And you know, Skechers is blue collar compared to the evil giant shoe companies that are Nike, Asics, adidas, etc. Is Meb the new official Letsrun poster runner?

Here's a link about Meb's pre-race snub:
http://www.nbcolympics.com/news-blogs/blog=olympic-talk/post/meb-keflezighi-motivated-by-pre-race-slight.html?chrcontext=top-nbc-momentsI guess the IAAF didn't announce him or let him toe the line at the start, despite him being the only previous medalist there. Pretty sad, but what a sportsman to turn it around and make it his motivation.
Thanks for the link steelergirl. I know have secret crush on you and will be stalking you accordingly.
Meb is the real USA marathon hero!!! He is humble, has a real coach, and session himself secondary to USA. Ryan hall??? Who is that?? Self entered, all about memememememe. Worried about getting injuries! We had sprinters with broken legs, a guy getting into the marathon at the last minute running under the IOC flag.. Can we trade Ryan for him.?..at least he ran for his country first

Is "the order of numbers" the same thing you used to decide that Rupp's second place was inferior to Meb's fourth place?
Passing the Brazilian will become a big deal if there is any drug issue with the Ugandan. Bronze.
What he did was super impressive for a 37-year-old.
1 word...
Awesome!
Awesome!
Awesome!
He could still end up with a medal...if one of the top 3 goes Ben Johnson.
i too was incredibly impressed with meb. especially given what happened with our other marathoners.
meb is incredible.
If not SO pathetic, this might be funny. Hall comes in 4th yesterday with a 2:11 and most all the LetsRun hypocrites would be lambasting him, Meb does it & he is a hero. I'll say one thing for most of you, you're consistent in your hatefulness.

Solomon was 4th genius. Second fastest American ever. I take that as more impressive than Meb finishing 4th in a time that is still slower than Shorter ran 30+ years ago.
Meb has a lot of guts. He proved once again that he is a very smart runner and knows how to execute a marathon race.
I have got to hand to him, a 37 year old who has been to previous Olympics and got a medal, thought he was too old to do well. I was wrong.
What can be said about the other two USA Olympic marathon teammates?
Congrats to Meb, a great Olympic career.

Hall is a clown with way more talent than Meb.
Hall is personally coached by Jesus Christ and he can't even finish the race, much less train 7 days per week.
Meb is 37 and has an Olympic medal.
Meb. F**k yeah.
how can you not love this guy? he's the kind of guy who, if nike came crawling back would say 'screw you'. sketchers stuck with me when i was down.
i'm done with all after his god squad interview.

No. That obvious observation was based on the weak field and hypogonadic tactics in the 10,000.

You often have good insights, but this point was so out of it that I had to address it.
Just from memory...
2012
Winner: Farah, PR 26:46
ETH: K and T Bekele, way past their primes. Gebremariam.
KEN: Muchiri, Masai, Kiprop
2008
Winner: K Bekele, PR 26:17
ETH: K Bekele and Sihine, at their primes. Gebrselassie.
KEN: Kogo, Masai, Mathathi
Which looks stronger to you?
Rupp got lucky, and with his current ability would have got rolled in any other Olympic field.
I agree completely. Rupp and Farah really did beat a watered down field and in any other global championship in the last 10 years would have been nowhere to be seen in the medals. I give them props for obviously doing their best, but lets not have any misunderstandings here. Distance on the track is in decline because all of the money is in the marathons and winning against the B team ethiopians and kenyans (who have none of the resources salazar's boys have nonetheless) is comparable to an 11th grader facing a group of gradeschoolers in dodgeball.
I'm wondering what Ritz would have done. If he finished, he would have been second best American.
meb is the man. he didn't medal like 6 other bruins and 18 other L.A/S.D. T&F Oly 2012 medalists but he got 4th.
