No Bailey has a long way to go before he fully develops, which at 23 is looking less and less likely.
His turnover is poor. his form needs huge amounts of work. He actually looks fat, not fast.
If he can fix all these things in the next 2-3 years which is possible he might have a 1-2 year period around Rio where he is untouchable by everyone not named Blake or Bolt.
Could he be the American record holder? Yes, will he with his current state? Nope.
I agree with basically everything you wrote, except the part about him getting the AR. That is a bit of a stretch.
I don't think he looks fat, but he is definitely a bit lumbering. I think he needs a serious conditioning program. I also know from experience that some guys don't "mature" until around 30. The neurology can get slower than it was around 20, but the musculature development can more than compensate, in some cases. Age 23 now means that he could potentially have 2 more great Olympics, if he stays healthy.
After reviewing the footage posted on nbcolympics.com of the race, I have determined that Tyson Gay has run FASTER than Yohan Blake. For any track noobs out there, relay splits technically start at the midpoint of the exchange zone. During the exchange to the 3rd runner (about 19.1 seconds into the race) at the midpoint line, Blake has about 3 feet on Gay. This means he actually received the baton before Gay did. About 28.0 seconds into the race, there is the final exchange from Gay to Bailey and from Blake to Bolt. At the midpoint, it is clearly obvious that Bailey and Bolt are dead even. This would conclude that Gay actually covered the distance 3 feet faster than Blake did.
If you are a track noob then you might not understand that the inside turn is shorter than the outside turn, which is why Gay is further down on the track than Blake. This is called a stagger and it makes sure all the athletes run the exact same distance. Blake isn't actually destroying Gay, he is simply making up the stagger.
Why are we even talking about Doper Blake? Jamacia IS DOPE. Blaco the big losers of these Olympics, Jamacia took the gold for Dopest all-time Olympic Squad.
Now I understand how it was possible.
Blake is really a beast. He ran the 4*100 as fast as his 9,69 and ate Gay the same way.
At point of exchange to Gay and Blake, Gay was ahead of Blake by roughly 2 meters. By the time they got to Bolt and Bailey, Blake was ahead of Gay by roughly half a meter. The Jamaican exchange was subpar to that of the Americans and Bolt switching hands didn't help. Bolt and Bailey started their leg DEAD EVEN.
Tyson Gay gave up the most ground and Bailey fought hard but didn't stand a chance against Bolt.
9.69 with -0.1 wind and Lausanne altitude. That is about 9.70 basic. With +2.0 wind Blake would be very close to WR.
Blake is pretty underrated. He is the youngest person to ever go sub 10

but because he was 20y before end year ( by 3/7 ) he didn't qualify as a junior in '97
REPLY TO ChoCho:
you can't point a finger at Jamaica and not point a finger at the Americans. they have been doped for the longest time. when they were dominating all the sprint races did you ever question if they were using PEDs? You compare Carl Lewis to Ben johnson, but Ben beat him fairly since Carl was alson doping. He has been caught on several occasion, but got away (maybe doe to the pull that America has on the rest of the world). Think about this, Justin Gatlin served a 4 year suspension, suddenly came back and running 9.79 (?). don't tell me he is that great because Ben Johnson who can run just as good on drugs as Gatlin came back and could barely break 10s. Tyson Gay (most people are under the illusion that he is clean..laugh!) came back from him surgery and after only running a few race ran a 9.80? yeah right!! not saying that jamaicans are all clean, but be for real, you know that Americans are doping as much.

Looks like he just quit track after his mom died
also this could possibly be better
"British sprinter Mark Lewis-Francis recorded a time of 9.97 seconds on 4 August 2001 (aged 18 years, 334 days) but the wind gauge malfunctioned, invalidating the run."

You guys are stupid. Yohan Blake had the baton in a lane down from Tyson Gay.... duh. What do you think happens when two guys of equal speed run together and one guy has the shorter curve?
They actually ran equal. They also received the baton about equal as well. In fact, look up the video on youtube and stop relying on your already skewed memories and you'll see that the USA was in front when Bailey got the baton.
I don't see how Bailey held his own. He got SMOKED by Usain Bolt. What video are you guys looking at? Bolt put 0.20 on him LOL
...not sure what race you watched.
1. Gay gave up ground, and the problem wasn't a matter of the tigher turn. I would not say he got smoked, he gave a little ground to perhaps a faster runner.
2. Bailey held his own, he gave up what you would expect under the circumstances.
3. Timmons and Gatlin ran ver well, although they were up against the slower legs.
With that said, the USA ran well, perhaps it would have been a little closer if Gay ran a better leg and or Dix was on the relay, but the end result would have been the same.
...there is nothing else to it; end of story.

From Wikipedia:
"He thereby became the youngest sprinter to have broken the 10-second barrier at 19 years, 197 days, a record broken by Yohan Blake (19 years,196 days).
