Yep, suck it up and finish the race, Morgan. I don't like quitters, I rather you finish in last place than quit.

Cant play this video. On the BBC archive go to 2:14 and watch the chain of events with Kostetskaya almost falling on the inside, affecting Aregawi in front, which leads to her getting too close to Uceny and contacting her leg. The final stumble by UCeny is not her own fault.

Watched the #London2012 W1500m replay several times. It was Aragawi who clipped Morgan Uceny. Obiri was close behind, but did not touch her.

what I don't get is even if she got clipped... look at how many elbows Mo Farah took during the 10k.... isn't learning to deal with some contact part of racing!? Especially if your race strategy is to run in the pack and not in the front? Rupp had blood dripping down his knee at the finish of the 10k. Sure it hurts, sure it sucks, but learn to keep your balance.
Mostly looks like she tripped over her own feet. She needs to work on her balance or something.

Are you on drugs?? Did you really watch the video or did you only see what you wanted to see?

I watched the video too and it looks like she tripped over her own two feet. Are YOU on drugs?
The other runners in the race are still in the frame when she fell! Only several meters behind! She could have recovered, at least to finish. Can't understand why she didn't give it a go.
That was heart breaking to watch....But it was disappointing to see she didn't get back up ton finish the race.

This.
Didn't that collegian who fell at Trials come in 2nd? I know a 10k is a whole different race.... But this was a freak slow 1500.... Finish w some pride and not the sobbing... Or at least move off the track.
I am utterly AMAZED at how STUPID people are.
Uceny got her leg bumped and instantly tripped and fell. That doesn't mean anybody is at fault.
Uceny is NOT going to get back up and have ANY chance when they were jogging the first 1100 waiting for an all out sprint the last 400.
Another thing I don't understand is how people say she was in a bad position. She was on the OUTSIDE exactly where you should be to stay out of trouble. Unless you are DEAD FUNKING LAST BY A WIDE MARGIN, there is NO place where you are completely safe from being tripped and that includes being in the lead.
I change my mine, I think she was clipped by another runner after watching TV's telecast verizon.
Thanks for this video. I think this was Uceny's fault and it seems Aragawi keeps her lane. I am from the US and of course at first thought she got clipped from the television views but this video clears that up for me. I don't see Aragawi breaking her stride or lane. Unfortunate, but this was her fault only and she clipped her own calf that made her fall.
I hate to say this, but I think she falls on purpose.
It was like she had choreographed the whole damn thing. she slapped the track before the other runners were out of frame.
I am serious.
She needed to get back up and run.

Some runners may indeed have been on drugs. In the race. Ah, letsrun message boards. Yes here I am.
She tripped over her own two feet indeed, BUT it was after her trailing left foot was bumped, I think by a runner avoiding some other contact, and came into line with her lead leg. Not blaming, but watching over and over it's clear. And no contact with the woman in front, though it almost looks like it, who never twitches the tiniest bit from a bump, as it never happened.
Jump back in? Yes, would have been brave, but heading into a 50-60 second last lap, also futile. It's a split second decision we can all make for her hours later at home.
I don't think she did it on purpose she is just not careful enough in these races. But agree 100% she should have got back up and run instead of doing the crying on the track. I understand it was devastating but have some pride get up and run it out. She had a little cut on her leg should have finished.
this thread of proof of why one should never argue on a message board, especially the letsrun message board. everyone here watches the same video, which is pretty damn high quality, and then you've got this.
uceny does not have balance issues. she did not choreograph the entire thing. and getting up would have been nothing but a token gesture that would have meant that the message board trolls could only have accused her of having balance issues and not also of being a quitter.
f*%k you message board trolls. enjoy your basement dwelling troll lifestyle.
Some peoole here are obviously NOT runners/racers, or have an agenda, or are just trying to be mean. In a race like this, it is the responsibility of each runner to not cut someone off, and to not step on the heel of the person in front of you, or otherwise bump them. Runners cannot watch behind them! Uceny would not be moving to the inside at that point in the race, and yet the runner behind her ran herself to the outside enough to bump Uceny's foot on the backswing. What happens next is unavoidable at that speed...when someone bumps your inside foot and knocks it towards your other leg, the pure velocity of the turnover will carry your foot into your other leg on the upswing. Don't believe me, just run and have someone slap your foot to the inside while it's at full extension behind you. It was the fault of the runner behind Uceny who moved out when there was not enough space to do so. A real shame.
As about 50 others have said, the Ethiopian clipped Uceny from behind. Incidental, but it was there. The Ethiopian was not clipped or touched by anybody else leading into it. Too few people in too little space. The Ethiopian was way too close to the runners in front of her on that line. She just as easily could have taken down the Russian that looks like she's about 40. The one that finished 4th.
It was poetic justice when the Ethiopian decided she'd been shot with 25 or whatever meters to go and decided to walk in.
The Ethiopian did bump her for behind.
It is clear if you look at the Ethiopian as Uceny's left leg goes up before hitting her own leg. You can see the Ethiopian move just a little when Uceny's leg hits her. It was clearly an accident- nobody to blame. Huge bummer.
