Your waffling is wrong on so many levels.
First you say he could have run a 12 low in the last 100m to complete his race in 51 flat in 3:32. Based on your far fetched supposition that he had nearly 2 secs in reserve in the last 100.
This is clearly bs.
Then you say he could have finished in 49/50. That means his finishing time would have been 3:31. No one has ever run a sub 50 sec last 400 in any race faster than Gonzales's 3:45 in winning the European Cup in 87.
Morceli ran a 51.6 last lap all out in his 91 World Champ win in 3:32.8.
His last 4 x 100 went 12.8, 12.7, 12.7 & 13.3. More impressive than Makhloufi's closing splits and he was only a 3:31 flat runner in 91
Yet you are suggesting Makhloufi could have run his last lap almost 2 sec faster off a pace 2 secs faster, than Morceli!
When Cacho won the Olympic title in 92, he ran the last lap in 50.5, and his 100m down the back straight was 12.2, 0.3 faster than Makhloufi. He then ran the next 100m around the bend in 12.3, before slowing in the straight to 12.9.
So every 100m of his last lap was much faster than Makhloufi's, and he certainly wasn't capable of 3:26. In 92, Cacho's best was 3:32.69
In 93 Morceli won the World's in 3:34.24, with a last 800 of 1:49.4 (0.9 faster than Makhloufi), last 400 in 50.6 (2.2 faster than Mak's) & ran his last 4 x 100m in 12.8, 12.4 (same as Makhloufi down back straight), 12.4 (0.5 faster than Mak's) & then a final 100m of 13.0. Notice how he too couldn't maintain his burst of speed from 300 out into the home straight. In this race Morceli ran the 200m from 1200 to 1400m in 24.8, compared to Makhloufi's 25.3.
Again, Morceli's performance was more impressive in every department. And what was his best time that year? 3:29.2!
As I said before, Makhloufi's finishing splits are in keeping with a 3:30 runner. The suggestion he could have run under 50 secs to record a 3:31 finishing time is complete and utter fantasy land.
As for Aouita's 3:29.7, there is no mark on the track for 100m from home, moron! And the clock does not give tenths, it only shows to the neaest second, so how can you see 3:16.9? Idiot.
I have a commercially produced dvd version of the race not some copy off Youtube. There are clear markers at 120m from home, 110m, 90m and 80m.
It's not difficult to work out both Cram's & Aouita's splits once you count the number of strides each uses between set markers & using where they are at in relation to known markers, but then that concept is probably beyond you.
At 120m from home Cram hits it at 3:13.6, Aouita at 3:14.1
At the 110m mark, Cram = 3:14.9, Aouita = 3:15.4
At 90m Cram = 3:17.5, Aouita = 3:18.0
At 80m Cram (now slowing) = 3:18.9, Aouita = 3:19.3
So all of Aouita's splits show him at 13.0 speed for the last 100m.
Cram was running his last 100m in 13.4.
