He tested positive for Adderall (I think, may be another stimulant) which he said was for ADHD but he did not have a TUE.

Remember, they can strip him of his medal after the fact. I'd be willing to lay even odds that both Gatlin and Jeter will be stripped of their medals by Rio 2016.

NBC was kind enough to mention Chamber's suspension but was mum's on Gatlin's. Even better, Gatlin got the smiley "I did it for America" interview after his race...

Agreed

Can people remind me of the two drug convictions Gatlin had. I can only find reference to a single doping offense committed in 2006:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/11/AR2010051103527.htmlI see that he failed in trying to have it overturned, but I don't think that counts as a second offense:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_GatlinSince both BBC and people here refer to two offenses, I want to know what the second one was.
Note that while I would have MUCH preferred Tyson Gay get a medal, I do find it hypocritical that the BBC said nothing about Dwain Chambers drug past when I saw him run, even if Dwain was more honest in admitting guilt.
Also I haven't been watching the NBC coverage much (thank you internet) but does anyone know if they have said much about drugs in the 100m (or elsewhere)?
I quickly scanned the Wiki link you posted and here is the mention. Maybe Gatlin should share some of his amphetamines...oops, sorry... his ADD medication with you.
"In 2001, Gatlin was banned from international competition for two years after testing positive for amphetamines. Gatlin appealed on the grounds that the positive test had been due to medication that he had been taking since his childhood, when he was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. The appeal resulted in an early reinstatement by the IAAF.[3]"
The Adderal he was taking was for sleep apnea and was on file with the NCAA however, that summer he ran in Europe and had not declared the medication when he was tested. I believe he was a college soph at the time. It is funny on here how people hate on Gatlin but give the guys that beat him a pass. If you think Gatlin is still using and just getting away with it what does that say about the guys ahead of him? Also Ben Johnson was using horse steroids when he was busted in 1988 after running 9.79 and you guys think Bolt is clean when he could beat Johnson by two full strides after slipping out of the blocks and trailing for half the race?
Gatlin should be kicked out of the USA. Go run for China you dirty biotch!
Of course Gatlin has been a drug cheat in the past and may still be a drug user. Then again, is anyone really naive enough to believe that Usain Bolt is clean? It wouldn't surprise me if everyone in the 100m final was on some type of performance-enhancing drugs.
The guy served his time, lay off him!
If somebody got out of jail after serving their time, would you still pick on him also?
Here is how it should go:
Someone gets out of jail after serving time for burglary. They start robbing houses again, but have not got caught yet.
That's better.

+1

Anymore excuses for this drug cheat?
He made no excuse for the first offense. His medication was on file with the NCAA, but was not on file with WADA when he ran in Europe, if it had been he would not have received a positive test. Thus the reason that he received no penalties for that offense. You are correct it was for ADD not sleep apnea sorry about that one. As for the Testosterone he served his time, and has yet to test positive since 2006. If he tests positive again he is done, but he is just using the same stuff as Bolt, Gay, Blake, Powell, Fraser, Jeter, Madison, Campbell-Brown and many others. If the tests ever catch up to the chemistry Track and Field as a whole will be in shambles. Perhaps that is why the tests are behind?

Do you think it's just the 100? Do you think the 1500 or the 10,000 or the marathon would be any different?
the sprinters have a bigger history of cheating

Despite comitting financial fraud for years he did not get sent to jail
He is a walking advert for taking drugs and getting away with it. I do not think the served his time and having been busted twice should have been banned for life. They may all be on drugs and when guys get done and then come back they will continue to do so. Look at CO from the UK thighs like 10 guys no way is she clean

I noticed that also. It seems odd they would point that out for one athlete and not another.
I was rooting against him also - too bad he ran well.
I was glad to see that he isn't wearing Nike shoes anymore - maybe they fired him. I can only hope.

like letting a child molester inside a kindergarden? He's untrustworthy and shouldn't be near a track
