Nobody can coach distance and speed like Salazar right now. Nobody. Salazar might force the Africans to change the way they train. Seriously. How can the Ethiopians and Kenyans let themselves get beat by an American?

It was on NBC. Commentating wasn't that great though.
I wonder what the new designer PED is that they're on?

I true running nerd/pansy
We now understand why...
1) Salazar sent Rupp to Dan Pfaff to activate his glutes and teach him how to sprint
2) Salazar had Rupp run many 800m and 1500m races earlier in his development
3) Salazar was obsessed with developing a "ferocious kick" and had multiple 12.0 second or faster 100m sessions at the end of workouts
4) Salazar had Rupp run workouts after races
5) Why Salazar decided against running Rupp in the Olympic Trials Marathon. The recovery period would have ruined his preparation for the Olympic 10,000m and 5,000m (a la Ritz)
6) This country is the best: a Cuban immigrant and Cuban-American is able to become one of America's greatest runners and one of the world's most important coaches
You mean because when they lapped Thompson they commented that he was back in the mix. Classic

And NBC is and will be clueless about distance running
I saw that as well and thought it was hilarious.

Actaully, he raises a lot of eyebrows and will bring even more scurtiny on his 'training' methods.
you're out of your mind! He worked on Rupp's finishing kick and it paid off!!! His runners went 1-2 that makes him a master at preparing his athletes for a PEAK PERFORMANCE!!!

5) Ritz ran great all things considered. I'm not suggesting Rupp would have done as well if he ran the trials, but Ritz ran pretty well based on this year and his past few years and the pace that for him to 27:45. He's just not back to his 2009? shape yet.
My kids and I watched it together and we were ALL screaming at the tv. Truly an awesome race to watch! Anyone notice Rupp's bloody knee/leg? I guess someone spiked him.

Thank you for the compliment, but I won't let it go to my head since you are a crazy person.
It was fun to watch and a little scary when things slowed down and it got crowded (Rupp surrounded by the Ethiopians
and boxed in along the rail) then Muchiri almost tripped up behind him and had to extend his hand across his back to minimize contact. Mo and Galen had the kick when it counted and the two Ethiopians didn't.
Tadese leading at half 14:05.79 wasn't helping Bekele.
Ritz 27:22.28 PR, today 27:45.89
Matt 27:28.22 PR, today 28:18.26
nothing like the women's race
Salazar's methods are nothing new...in the words of my dad..."if worked back then, it will work now". I was yelling and jumping the last 2 and could barely contain myself from running out the front door! The Rupp haters will still hate, but this should keep them quiet for a while.

I have to admit that I had tears coming down my eyes when Mo won and Rupp finished second. I am neither a brit or an American but this was racing at its finest and knowing how much hard work is put in to achieve such a level, it's awe inspiring. Well done, lads!
Did anyone else notice K Bekele kinda giving up at the end? Looks like he wanted Gold or nothing...
and i thought usain's gesture was the lamest...
either way, seeing rupp medal gave me chills

Before the race they said that the 10k is a little over 6.5 miles. How can they be so dumb?
ethiowhere?
what's a kenya?
When was the last time a white guy outkicked Bekele?

Um, it did not work back then. Everyone who's realistic and intelligent knows that. The competition is different and we fell behind because we didn't change well enough. We went through a period where we tried something even less effective running less, and some who ran too much but fact is it 100% did not work back then, the competition was just inferior. It's easy to say something works when you don't have a reason to suggest it's not as good as you think.
Trolls are getting ahead of the rest of us. Two top-class athletes, Farah and Rupp. Each representing their nations impeccably.
Let's just savor in the moment; that the top two in the Olympic 10000m were representing Europe and North American.
This may spark a new generation of distance runners, and make long distance a more competitive and exciting spectacle again!
