Could someone enlighten me with their knowledge of the new detection methods for EPO? I have heard/read that it is easy to circumvent the testing for EPO by injecting an IV into your body with fluid (i'm not sure what this fluid is called?...) to dilute your blood to lower the hematocrit count. This process doesn't take more than 10 minutes and virtually declares an athlete clean??? Is this true?
Can you test for hematocrit? Is this an easy/difficult process? Is it even feasible to accomplish this kind of testing under controlled conditions? Can it be done accurately after prestigous running or bike races.
The Tour De France 3rd place individual's wife being caught with EPO drugs brings these questions to light.
