Sorry, what was that?
The announcers are still terrible ("Craig, pass the scotch! We got a horse race here!"), but kudos to NBC for using picture-in-picture and playing a very reasonable amount of adverts. I'm impressed. They could time the commercial breaks a bit better, but 8 minutes of commercials in a 31 minute race is great compared to what we've come to expect.
Kenyan slowing it down again. 76 second lap
Kidane to the front to pick it up again.
74.2
2:28.8 3 Japanese in front with an Irish woman gap of 15 meters to main pack.
3:43.0 main pack has essentially caught up.
4:57.2 at 1600
74.2 next lap
74.3 next lap
74.4 next lap
9:55.7 74.5 japanese still leading
75.3 lisa uhl is now at back of main pack about to get dropped, Janet is 2 in front of her and letting a little gap open in front of her.

2:30.7 next two laps
14:55 at 4800 JApanese are off front and it bunched up a second as the Kenyans were in front
15:32.1 half way sally kipyego in front now

71.4 Kipyego pushing it. Lisa and Janet dropped. Amy Hastings in 8th.
72.4
Kidane now goes to front.

19:46 at 6400 so that was roughly 4:49 other miles has been closer to 5:00

Wow. You are quite a fan.
The NBCOlympics online feed is actually giving some good graphics for following the race.
They had a list of the entire field in running order and how far back from the leader each runner was. They ran through the list and then took it down. They need to leave it up and keep it going for the entire race. That is very good info for the viewer to have.
A Kenyan bails...
The top leading 6 spots are Kenyans and Ethiopians, 8 laps to go.

We should all be thankful. It's never going to get any better than this.

You aren't getting commercials? I get 1-3 of them every 5 minutes or so.
you need to switch to the non-commentary stream for the commercials
