Male and a girl. Okay. Boys and girls are not allowed to compete with males. Got it.

Unless evidence is presented that there is doping, well, I applaud her. I am not going to denigrate performances of athletes from other nations just because they are amazing beyond my imagination. When you research on the internet,it seems that most of the suspicions are originating from one side of the world... Just sayingShe is not a muscle bound freak, she seems like a normal teen. Great for her.

Give up. This is BS. Nobody believes it. Its like the 15/3/10 from '94. Another athletic con courtesy the PRC. they are shameless.

Look here people, well, this girl is not from our land, but, she is amazing. and She is growing, and OVER THE LAST YEAR SHE HAS GROWN BY 13% we expect improvement
Should there be only open competition at the Olympics and none of this women and men categories?
Then you would have true equality...

Yes, true equality. The bullies will dominate. Let's have a free-for-all. If a stronger male beats you up before an event, then they will win. You will be DNS.

Lagat IS Kenyan... a rose by any other name...
it never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are on here. lagat is 100% american and is therefore is not eligible to carry the flag for any country other than the USA. are you aware that the sun rises in the east and that we landed a man on the moon?

Marion Jones was never busted.
This is a progression that is coming from a centrally controlled sporting regime with a long history of systematic doping, cheating and lying. To think that the PRC all of a sudden starts being honest is extremely naive.
You guys do realize that Dibaba closes faster over 5000m (last 400m) than most MEN? Right?

I don't think the Chinese have doped more than the Americans do.
I kinda think there's at least 50% of the Olympians have doped, getting caught or not.
ex-AA,
Thanks for that link. All things being equal, it suggests a .04 advantage in London vs Beijing, at any distance in breast, fly, and free, and IM.
The upshot is that Shiwen broke a very strong record by a greater margin than Evans broke a weak record, and Shiwen did it without the benefit of the same performance-enhancing equipment as had been used in the prior record, suggesting that Shiwen's was the greater feat. This is only relevant, of course, to a limited comparison between the two WR's; I mention it only because the inevitable response from the common man to the question "Shiwen" is "Evans".
There is no doubt that some girls are capable of incredible athletic feats during their mid-teens, including swimmers--but using Evans as a justification for Shiwen is wrong, as the two performances are not comparable in quality--not just in terms of the magnitudes of the improvements made, or the depth of participation in the event, or the equipment technology relative to the previous WR, but also in the manner of the swim.
I should add that it's not just Shiwen, but so far, she is the most visible exemplar of the system.

Some good points in that second post, I will try to get to them tomorrow.
Quickly, I don't know what to think about Caulkins. I'll ask around.
Can Anyone link video of race (actual race footage)?

No it wouldn't. Kiprop wouldn't run 52 after blasting the first three laps. Compare like with like.
I know this is an American board, but I still expected someone to point out that an American boy broke a swimming world record aged 15.
Which population would you expect to have the more outliers, the USA or China? And which would have the more extreme outliers?
What American boy broke a WR at age 15? Enlighten us.

Not most men competing on the world level.
Ye Shiwen = doper.
Dara Torres = clean.

Not quite.
American White Male = Clean, mommies angels
Everyone Else = Doper
Exactly, I did not say bust her, I said present evidence, there was evidence in Marion's case. If evidence is presented in her case then I will judge her, till then stand up and applaud. It is funny the same people who defend the women's marathon record, attack the Chinese girl.

This might help, I guess it wont she is not one of us

Missy Franklin, 17 year old, American, while female.
100m Backstroke Gold medal winner at the Olympics today.
Australia's Emily Seebohm, the top qualifier, led at the turn and was under world-record pace, but Franklin showed a remarkable finishing kick. With her arms whirling and size-13 feet pounding the water, the 6-foot-1 swimmer passed the Aussie in the final 25 meters and lunged toward the wall for a winning time of 58.33 seconds.
"She's a racer and she knows what to do," Michael Phelps said.
Ha, ha, ha, ha......
FWIW, Victor COnte says that he thinks she is using. He also said that masking EPO is very simple and easy, getting caught is dumb.
was the last 25% of her race faster than that of almost every guy in the 100 backstroke final?
