He is headed to Hansons for sure...
I saw him race in Georgia earlier this year. Powerful! I was very impressed with him. I would not be suprised to see him run a Hubbard like D2 5K at a big meet this spring.
Is there more information about him? Where is he from? HS?
Nick is from Madison High School in Ohio. Whether or not he is going to Hanson's I'm not sure. I thought he had a few more options open...
Nick ran awesome! Everytime I saw him he was powering around a curve or down a stretch. I found it kind of amusing when the Ashland students wore the Stop Cordes t-shirts. They had them for sale at the club house for a little while, then the NCAA told them they couldn't sale them for some odd reason. Oh well. But he did run great, and I can't wait to see what he does the next few years in his career.
There will quite possibly be a few more "stop cordes" shirts available for sale if anyone wants one. We have to check our stock and if you want one just post on here and we'll let you know what the price is and stuff of that nature.
Here is Nick's story:
Nick is from Madison hs. He ran around 418 and 922 in hs, placing in the state meet in the 2. Went to Ashland and was just kinda average his first couple of years, then just took off two years ago. Bill Gallagher, Ashland's coach, is amazing, one of the better coaches in any division. Really gets the most out of his guys. Nick will continue to improve and be a solid post collegiate runner. He is also one of the greatest guys I know, a complete class act, and what he did on Saturday was amazing
Why are you guys so surprised what he did. Everybody was saying before that he will win.
I wouldn't call him average his first two years. As a freshman he pushed our top guy to a 14:53 prov. qualifier in track. I don't remember his time but low-15s is not average in DII.
