Well, not to burst your bubble or anything, but Jager isn't necessarily "injury prone". His injury wasn't of biomechanical origin; it was from falling down some frickin' stairs.
Didn't they say Solinsky's injury was from falling down stairs? These guys need to be more careful.
That's not something you can avoid, Next you're going to tell me they shouldn't walk and should be moved around in a wheelchair inside of a "clean" enviroment when they aren't training.
More Breaking news: Webb training with Andrews under Coach Vig!
He should've gone with Al Sal.
Why al sal? Because of all his gimmicks and recovery equipment? Schumacher has the same resources. Everyone ends up leaving salazar's group...o'lionard...webb...etc. Credible sources are rumbling about farah's departure from Salazar after London.
Agree... Salazar's record is much stronger than Schumacher's, especially in injury prevention.
Jager - injured in 2011
Solinsky - injured in 2010-2012
Tegenkamp - injured 2010
Mo Farah = World Champion
Galen Rupp = AR
Schumacher does not have access to the same resources as Alberto (one example is the Nike sports lab on campus). Same goes with the cryo freeze recovery thing you have seen ritz use before NYC.
It's trivial crap but it's not equal between the groups.

Yeah, I don't think Snoop Lion is accurate on Jager falling down stairs. I actually remember an interview (probably on Flotrack, as they interview him often) where he says that a lot of his problem came from his stride and how much he was up on his toes. Solinsky was the one who got hurt falling over his dog on the stairs.
What credible sources are those?????

Solinsky's injury was an overuse injury; his hamstring detached from the bone it was connected to. Falling over his dog probably made it worse, but didn't cause it.

This is true, but Jerry and Dave are best buds.
Oh no... not 4 more years of Dave Smith.
Berto has an attention to detail and focus on his athletes that is a level
above partly because of who he is and partly because he has less athletes to focus on. Both are better for German in my opinion. I also think bertos focus on injury prevention is at the highest level.
I hope German will do well with Jerry, but my concern is that the large number of fast guys and perhaps lack of discipline and detail will ruin him.

Ritz got hurt playing with his dog.

Sorry, I should've been a little more clear. Weren't the stairs with Solinsky the "straw the broke the camels back"? He was kind of fighting through it, then that was what made it worse?

I agree. I would have preferred he went with Alberto. NOw before some Salazar haters or Jerry lovers get all bent out of shape, obviously both are great coaches, and German is in good hands with either one. However, let's set the record straight:
Both have coached several AR holders recently, and both have had runners get injured under them.
Salazar has coached Rupp to multiple AR's (indoors and out), and have we forgotten Ritz' 12:56 already? And Farah is not american, but almost was double world champ under Salazar. So that's a pretty good recent record right there.
Jerry has Sol, Teg, and Jager setting AR's.
So each has had 3 mega-talents run well under them. Rupp of course has been healthiest of any of these 6, and Farah has been very healthy too.
I agree that Alberto is better with rehab/prehab stuff and facilities. And altitude tents are virtual EPO, so....who knows what German might do off of using that (has it ever been confirmed or denied on whether Jerry's guy use this?) ?
Bumbalough, Lomong, and Nelson have also run well with Schumacher. Bairu- set the Canadian record in the 10k but that's about it. Vaughn- has done pretty much nothing.
Salazar has been great for Rupp, Ritz, and Farah. However, Ritz, Webb, O'Lionard, Centro have all had injury problems working with him. Ulrey is no longer what he once was.
Good for Ritz? No way, he should have stayed with Hudson... AlSal took ~4 years to get him to pr in the marathon (and on an easier course at that)
Webb did not get hurt under AS; if anything he was healthy under AS. Centro slammed his knee into a table so hard he required surgery: scarcely the fault of his coach. Ulrey hasn't been the same for several years. Let's see what happens next year. Ritz has gotten hurt under every coach he's had. But look, guys get hurt, and that's a fact about training at the edge.

Houston was not an easier course than London, but . . . 12:56, 27:22, 60:00--big PRs under AS. However, I'm very interested to see how Ritz does in Chicago, a flat, fast course, on the heels of what will be one year of solid training, including a fair amount of intense track work.
