If they were not barred, then they would have been allowed to run.
As someone else pointed out Nascar doesn't ban a team/car because it is sponsored by a competing entity.
Clearly what happened here is that QUALIFIED athletes were denied entry into a meeting where they would have improved the quality of the competition. And these athletes has been attacked by Stewart and his wife within the past year.
If that ain't "barring," then the word has no meaning.
Barring qualified IAAF athletes, out of some control freak vendetta -- which this surely was -- is pathetic and Ian Stewart should be stripped of his leadership of the two UK meets.
