Yes it would be nice if Ajee Wilson's 2:00.91 Gold medal makes front page and/or get a black page as it's not too often we get Gold medals in the 800m at internationl championships.
Even more thrilling is how close she came to running sub 2 minutes and if she is going to still go for the record we all know she can break.
There are several reasons why Symmonds, Vessey, Wheating, Borza, Coe get way more attention than Montano, Wilson, Grey, Wilson and none of them have to do with race.
Those reasons are?
Ajee Wilson ran just to win and was extremely comfortable running 2:00.91. She was in 6th place with 300m to go...
CHECK OUT THE RACE:
Actually VIPAM she was in 7th with 300m to go and I wouldn't doubt if she could have run 1:58.75 today. WOW!

Agreed, this is black page material! I started a thread about it, but only got 4 rude replies :(
On Eaton not getting a black page... since when have non-distance runners gotten black pages? Well, Mark Block... but that was absurd and really cheapened the black page imo.
Does anyone know the last time a US distance runner got a World Juniors gold? It seems like it's been an extremly long time.

Wow no black page or headline and such a rare achievement by any American! If it was Mary Cain it would be quote of the day for at least a week.
I never really put much into the complaints that the moderators of Letsrun was racist until yesterday. When Ajee Wilson wasn't put on the frontpage after her race, I was one who said give them time to update.
Now a day later and they put some Arab female athlete on the frontpage and nothing for Ajee Wilson's SECOND INTERNATIONAL Gold medal performance within a year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvPL-ioblEM
It's a slap in the face to all TRUE American track and field fans.
If you have something against black athletes why not go into reporting fishing, not too many African Americans in that sport!
I couldn't say it was racism as I don't know them well enough to make that assumption; however, it's blantant overlook of such a rare and amazing achievement. When the moderators post an article about the Arab female athlete and then the quote of the day is just a general interest topic, when an American grab an international Gold medal.
Brojos and moderators
is there a reason for overlooking and NOT MENTIONING Ajee's incredible 800m GOLD medal performance?
Patiently waiting for a Letsrun response!
STFU already. Wilson had a great run. Happy for her, glad she has fans. Too bad her fans are making themselves the story here, vice Wilson's race, simply by being obnoxious & implying racism. Everyone is so damn tired of you losers crying racism at every imagined slight. Get over yourselves. The girl didn't win the Olympics, didn't win OT, didn't come close to placing at OT. She won a very prestigious Junior meet and was appropriately recognized for an impressive race.
All you're doing is turning potential fans into people who'd just as soon see her get beat so you'd STFU..
YOU pie face loser, there was no mention of Ajee Wilson's victory. So how in the world was she appropiately recognized when an older athlete who personal best in the 800m got an entire article for being over 30 seconds slower!
If your tired of racism being mentioned then stop it or don't come on this board because it happens everday!
WOW!
I will be the first to say that I didn't expect her to win or break 2:01; I thought it was possible, but not likely.
This is about as significant as it gets and should dominate the Letsrun front page.
That is a very encouraging sign, that she saw that she could be successful in a top 800m race without blasting out a super fast first 400m. I don't recall typing up any predictions for Wilson this year. But I am just saying that I expected her to win and so don't find this stunning. I did type up long-term predictions for Driouch, the next El G.
Get off that young man's jock. You obviously have a thing for young African men today bad you can't get equally excited over a young talented African American female athlete.
TrackCoach
I agree Ajee's fast time and victory is about as significant as it gets!
Just look at the video of the race she obviously had tired legs at US Olympics trials as she was a totally different runner a few weeks later as she masterfully dominated the World Junior 800m final.
can someone translate? I don't read ebonics well.
WTF are you saying "So how in the world was she appropiately recognized when an older athlete who personal best in the 800m got an entire article for being over 30 seconds slower!"
WTH does that mean? Do you even know?
