The inclusion of pie prizes will really shake things up. Expect to see some breakout performances from typically slower runners who have previously had no real motivation to run up front.

Predictions for RPI this weekend? How will Bates running influence the region? Who is the top individual at that meet?
I think Bates will win by a lot. And make RPI look bad, which hopefully will remind everyone on LetsRun that RPI is, in fact, bad.
RPI alumni could do some damage...these has-beens now have incentive to run fast with the pie prizes, rumor has it they have a solid top 4...

I agree. RPI is the worst team in the region.

Yeah I hear their top 4 can almost run 3 miles before they have to stop and take a break.
If the pies are from Grandmas Pie Shop, I could see the opposite effect occurring. EW.

They tried sneakin' out of the caterpillar room, now they are spending the night in the box.
I think the inclusion of pies in race prizes could DRASTICALLY shake up the competition. I could see time improvements of a minute to a minute and a half (maybe more if it's hot apple pie with ice cream). I guess we'll have to see this weekend, but I expect most of the field to go sub-25. If the rest of the region wants results like this, they're going to have to step up their pie game.

Bates wins big. Don't overlook Union. A big win in newbrugh last week. My prediction:
1. Bates, 2. Oneonta 3. Vassar 4, Union, 5. RPI 6. Plattsburgh,
NYU men win Metro meet over Fordham and Columbia; women fourth (all other teams that ran were D1, I believe). All I have are individual performances at this time.
Men:

Women:

At a quick glance, it appears that NYU did not hold anyone out to prepare for next week's big meet at Oberlin. (No particular reason why they should have--there's eight days between races.)
If/when somebody finds team scores, please post them!
Columbia ran their D team. A win's a win though just don't get too excited.

Y'know, you're right to mention this: I thought it went without saying, but then again, why would people from outside NYC know that Columbia never runs its top X men and women at the Metro meet?
The strange thing is that Columbia sometimes wins the Mets (as they did on the women's side, today) while still just running their scrubs! The Mets is basically a D1 meet (NYU's the only remaining D3--CCNY seems to have dropped out), but the other D1 teams are one or two (or more) levels below Columbia. It's a good reminder of how many lousy D1 xc squads there are.
Yeah, Fordham ran full strength though. Not a bad D1 scalp for NYU.

The Violets have pretty much had Fordham's number for some years now. And FU is a respectable, "serious" team with good coaching--so you're right, it takes a pretty good team (which NYU is) to beat them.*
In taking another look at the results (Does *anyone* have the team scores yet? Bueller? Bueller?), I see that NYU still has a pretty significant gap between its top three and the next guys, esp. #5. (Ditto their women.) They may be closing that gap a bit, though; it'll be interesting to see how it affects them at Oberlin and the UAAs, esp. the former--could be a guide to what to expect at Regionals.
All that said, their top guys are tough. Bonilla hella impresses me--he's a classic NYU senior, a guy who just kept working through the tough first couple of years in McDonough's system and is now a real force.
*Full disclosure: I have a couple of degrees from Fordham University.
Okay, I finally found some team scores (though not in a very convenient format):
has links to the men's and women's results.
NYU's women were the fourth of four competitive teams; the rest of the field were well back. Men's field, where NYU won, was deeper.
The times were not great (true more so for the men), but the course is not fast in any case, and the races were at the hottest part of the day.
It was very warm, times were effected. The men's race didn't go out particularly hard either. 5:03 first mile which is flat and could be fast if the field wants to get out.
Columbia's top guy at met's usually ends up in their top 8 by hep's and regionals, you can look it up. They have so many guys they never know who is their top 7 til late October.
Any results from Saratoga today? The races should be done.
Results from Hamilton today. Wasn't there, so I can speak as to the conditions, but it's never a very fast course. Ithaca finished 2nd to a d2 PA team. Some possible individual qualifiers raced, w/ Utica's Payne coming in over Bickell, Zikrey, and Geary.
