They're thinking that they ran away from half of todays sub 12:50 guys in Eugene. They are thinking they are ready to set National Records and get medals!!

Afraid? Did you ever wonder why you're not a world class athlete?
I would be excited if I were them. They have beaten most of those guys and are training well. They may get into the top 10 all time.

They're thinking your a dork on a message board and they are going to the Olympics.
Olympic 5k results:
1. Farah
2. Lagat
3. Rupp
Olympic 10k results:
1. Farah
2. Rupp
3. Bekele
Heard it here first. This Paris result doesn't even make any sense, something weird was going on, whatever it was (drug cycle, perfect conditions, both). Rupp beat most of these guys at Pre, he'll do it again when it counts. He just has to follow his boy/mentor, who is the man and whom these guys -- any and all of these clowns from this Paris race -- never beat.
Something was certainly weird...Gebresmeskal appears to be superhuman and not even winded with a 12:46. We're either going to see something incredible in London, or a total blowup by the Ethiopians.
I'm going to predict the first Ethiopia/Kenya drug scandal. Farah isn't allowed to lose since he will be on his home track in London. He will either win, or he will get outkicked by these supernatural guys (did you see that last 100m?). If outkicked, they will test positive and Farah will get the gold.
That's the cynical view.
I actually believe that Farah can compete with these guys and Rupp is the new Kennedy...running 12:50 right when the world moves back into the low 12:40s.
What are they thinking of Bekele? If I were in their shoes I'd be thinking "I own you now, old man".
I think this is going to be a great Olympics. Can't wait to see them battle it out in the 10k. I still think Bekele is going to be hard to beat, but the blood is in the water now and the sharks are circling.
I wonder, if I bring up the point about how what happens in May says little or nothing about what is going to happen this summer will earn more "Only stupid Americans think you can't run at your best for 4 months" comments...

Well, before someone says that I will agree with you.
But I don't think these guys will flame out. They looked scary. I just hope Farah, Rupp, and Lagat will look just as scary later this summer.

aaaaaaaafffffffffffllllllllaaaaaacccccc
The race seems like an anomoly. The last few years there have been so many DL races that slowed down between 3 and 4k. This looked like the same pack of guys. They just did not slow down before gearing up for the last half mile. I am happy to see great times but I am not sure it means a whole lot for the Olympics.I think Farah could match 2011 and Rupp has a 1 in 4 chance of a medal in the 10000 and a 1 in 8 chance in the 5000.

"Bekele runs 12:55 on a bad day." Bad day for who?, not KB, he's running the 10k (only) at the Olympics and has just trained through a 5k in 12.55.
"What are Rupp and Farah thinking?", who cares.
the thing is way different strategy at olympics. Wont be a time trial race from the start like the race in paris was. I bet at best the 5000 will be won in 1305 to 1315 which means raw speed and strength to handle surging
