Rudisha just said that Tanguy did not hear the gun at the start...
Yeah that was fairly obvious when you saw the live race. He started about a second later than everybody else and then had to fight to get upfront.
David Rudisha is now tied with everyone else who has ever lived combined for sub-1:42 performances.
Rudisha is the man. But he didn't need a 48.x pacer to get the world record, because even off of a 49.4 pacer he got to 600 in 1:14 and change, needing just a 26 last 200m to break 1:41. So, he was in close to 25, maybe even under, for the 3rd 200m, and a little under 25 avg for each of the first two 200s. But with a pacer to 600m, and Scherer could get him to 500m at least, he'd save effort and might do that. He can be the first to break 1:40 if everything goes right (e.g. 1:14.9/25.0).
Do they test for EPO/CERA at these diamond meets?
OMG...Gebresmeskal looked like he just finished a training run...walk in the park...terrifying. Even Bekele looked tired after a 12:45 effort.
