These Friday meets are a scourge. What, are the athletes supposed to miss Thursday AND Friday classes every couple of weeks, all season long? .[/quote]
Agree 100%. To attend these meets, athletes miss two days of classes per meet. This can equate to as much as 20% of the classes for a runner who attends every meet. In an Ivy League level university, missing even one class can be deadly if the runner is in a demanding major like engineering, math or the sciences. Twenty percent of the classes is severely compromising the quality of your education, not to mention your GPA. The answer: no weekday meets. Period. Even the NCAA has woken up and has moved the finals this year to the weekend. It is about time the rest of the college athletic scene woke up, too. Am I wrong?
