Tarmoh's massive thighs, geeezes.
Okay, let's put this to rest. You'd think a "science guy" could grasp this. All I'm really trying to say is that one runner literally covered the distance in less time that the other when you subtract reaction time from the final time. Yes, I'm well aware of the rules basing the start on when the gun is fired, and that the finish time is based off of that.
As far as I'm concerned, this conversation is over. If you choose to continue, that is fine, you just won't get a response from me.
So its a dead heat then.

everyone talks about how good felix looks and she does look good, tarmor can compete with her in the looks department too. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=373697118805&set=t.603419071&type=3&theater
Felix wishes she was in the same league as a true reckless warrior like Fam. We need more men like Fam.
I'd like to see the opposite angle picture. Where's the backup?
sorry guys here is the photo. This is at tie as far as I can see http://yfrog.com/nz93craj. The revision seems to be right!
Anyone who has ever used or observed someone using FinishLynx knows that, while that picture seems to indicate dead heat you still can't be certain unless you are on a computer moving the hair line. I'm certain that Flash Results was moving that cursor back and forth dozens of times to come to the final conclusion, but a stand alone picture can't tell the whole story. It would be cool to be able to have the process on video to watch.
I hope that they don't use a coin flip, that's worse than PK's in soccer. You train for four years to go to the Olympics and you use a coin flip? That's retarded. They should use a run-off, scheduled for after the conclusion of the 200. I would think that Felix would relinquish her spot once she secures her 200 entry.

This!
Rule 167.2:
In case of a tie for any place in any final, including first place, the tie shall remain.
Rule 167.1
If the Judges or the Photo Finish Judges are unable to separate the
athletes for any place according to Rules 164.2, 165.15, 165.21 or
165.24 (as may be applicable), it shall be determined to be a tie and
the tie shall remain.

BUT, in this very unique situation the tie can't remain. It must be broken. If the IAAF/Olympics won't let the fourth Kenyon Steeplechaser compete then the fourth 100m runner from the USA sure as hell shouldn't compete.
"I hope that they don't use a coin flip"
USATF generally considers their rules as meer sugestions, so you will likely get your wish, they won't follow the rules. Especially with Felix's future on the line.
Rule 167.2
In determining whether there has been a tie between athletes in
different heats for a ranking position according to Rule 166.3(a) or for
the last qualifying position for a subsequent round based on time, the
Chief Photo Finish Judge shall consider the actual times recorded by
the athletes to 0.001 second. If it is thus (or according to 167.1)
determined that there has been a tie for a ranking position the tie shall
be broken by draw. Where there is a tie for the last qualifying position
for a subsequent round based on time or place, the tying athletes shall
be placed in the next round or, if that is not practicable, lots shall be
drawn to determine who shall be placed in the next round.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS RULE IS ONLY APPLICABLE WHEN ATHLETES ARE RUNNING IN DIFFERENT HEATS!!!

Exactly. USATF and IAAF rules say the tie must remain, but the tie can't remain--perfect set-up for an epic run-off.
Would like to see the other camera on the inside of the track along with an outside camera photo. The photo looks like the camera has some tilt or is not lined up.
They could do what Athletics Kenya does when someone they don't want to makes the Olympic team- have him/her come down with a sudden knee injury.
If it is agreed they crossed the line at the same time (technically impossible but practically likely) result is a tie for 3rd place between the two of them.
USATF then needs to make a decision about who to select and they can do that in whatever way they choose.
Would be interesting if this happened in the Olympics - what would the result be? Two gold medals? There is actually a very high chance of this happening in the triathlon...
